I think 3G has a lower QoS compared to good ol' cable simply coz the data transmission services of the cell phone network are a secondary capability, i.e. cell phone networks were made for voice transmissions. Thus, if the BTS is busy, guess who gets the axe?

There is a heated debate on this list about how saf throttles torrents, yet the provider did not provide any information to the clients that it would be doing this before they bought into the service. Heck, even afterwards, the clients are kept in the dark.

So I ask you, would you entrust your internet connectivity to a company that limits traffic based on its own discretion without any prior warning to you?

In this regards, plus the fact that for the foreseable future, cables will always be faster than wireless (unless you are in those parts of Kenya which are not in Kenya), ISPs have an upper hand over the telcos.
