It will be a miserable experience if you run out of air easily. Make sure you can run at least at 5 miles an hour without struggling to breath.
Walk / run alot. If you are not used to walking long distance, your legs will pain easily due to lactic acid on the muscles. If working out is a long lived thing in your daily habit, your muscles have learned to deal with it and you will have a pleasant time.
Get a winter shoe and wear it till it get comfortable. Nothing horrible as taking a long walk in a shoe you have yet to break into.
Wear warm water proof clothes. The place rain a lot and its miserable to be cold and wet
