Before 3G was tested and launched, the EDGE network had not been fully exploited and there were no complaints from the users who could download data at twice the speed. Let them test and launch 4G . the better for the consumers. Are we saying that they should wait for Airtel, Orange etc to catch up in the market that they solely created?
@Rita, I remotely suspect that the 4G network is really some test bed between ICT brokers within the govt and some funds to be released from World Bank project. And Safaricom seems to be the most suitable arrangement as it may be partly funding the technology via a 4g network manufacturer. Today after having discovered the level of how some govt sectors in technology are trying to sell ice to eskimos under the disguise of "local innovation", I further suspect that this idea is being exploited to its full capacity on torn empty pockets filled with hypocrisy. Its makes no sense to have 4g running while 3g has not yet been fully exploited because uptake on per Mbyte costs will surely not be cheaper. We don't even have apps that need 4g.Seems this 4G scenario could be nothing more than a Nigerian 419.Me thots. :-)On Tue, May 31, 2011 at 9:06 PM, <rgitobu@gmail.com> wrote:
Skunkers,
Why do we all think of 3G or 4G and think of better or faster data speeds? I think Telcos should look at the applications that can offered and stop making Kenyans think its all about internet speeds only. Why hasn't Safaricom capitalized on what they can do on 3G before moving to 4G? They are just creating hype over a technology they will not develop beyond data.
