Peter you forgot to mention X-box and especially the new Kinect... that is a thorn in Nintendo Wii's butt. M$ isn't going away anytime soon. ----- "Peter Osotsi" <peter.osotsi@gmail.com> wrote:

Looking at the future, what does Microsoft have in stor? • Dead Phone platform... WP7 is the answer to Windows Phone problems, actually, WP8 might just be what M$ wanted several years ago. • Eroding Desktop market share (iOS & Android being the biggest cannibals) Windows 8 is proving to be the "killer" OS that M$ would have developed in place of Vista. Its the answer to Macintosh OS. Anyway, yesterday is never the right time, today is. • Eroding server markets share (cloud deployments) Well, Servers have never been M$'s domain. *NIX has been. Of late, M$ servers have been doing fine. • Eroding Office - Google Docs M$ has cloud deployments for office 2010, space of upto 25GB "cloud", far more than the 7GB from Google, and so on. Theirs is poor marketing and a poor platform - "LIVE". But they have improved a lot since those days. • Record breaking online losses.... Well, it's never been their strength neither. But again, anything can happen when you realized "you either kill the elephant or it tramples on you". I never rule out Microsoft! Sorry to say this but if the trend continues, Microsoft will have to pull an 'Apple' and bring in the Founder (Gates) to restore order...
Exactly. Never mind they can pay whomever they want to do whatever they want at whatever cost. Microsoft will survive in the technology ecosystem for a long time, you only need to look at the trading trends on Wall street and the other products they have in their stable.
As for apple, it might just be a cancerous growth.
