You can spend your whole life reinventing the wheel and enjoy the simple gratification that comes with  "that's my original work" or use what is out there and make money. 
There's nothing wrong with using templates. If you feel the need to be so original,  make your own OS,  create your own PHP equivalent,  invent your own computer. 
In almost all facets of ICT we use other people's  ideas to create new ideas.
