This lady is offering nothing useful at KES 1,500:). "Please insert correct map disk" is a frivolous issue. The system functions normally if you do not put it in GPS mode. Besides, even with that message displayed, it doesn't stop one from playing other media (Radio/CD/HDD media). On 14 October 2014 09:55, Jared Koyier via skunkworks < skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> wrote:

Hmm so what's the point? I'm thinking i need my radio to speak english (1), show me kenyan maps (2), and listen to kenyan radio stations? As in what are you offering Janet? (I'm probably missing something obvious...) As far as I've seen they play DVDs and have rear view cameras working and with an expander can listen to Kenyan radio? or am I wrong?

A few question
1. Are you able to change the language from Japanese to English?
The language is programmed in the hardware. No software can reverse this. Show me someone who can change the language and I will show you a pink elephant with wings :-).
2. Are you able to change the frequency limit without installing an fm expander?
No. You HAVE to add an FM expander for this. The frequency range for Japanese radios is between 76-90MHz. The Japanese optimize their cars for their people. That's why you need that little hack called an expander to receive radio channels in Kenya or any other EA country. I'm pretty sure it applies to all countries in the Commonwealth.
3. Are you able to change the maps to Kenyan?
Another question I get alot. The answer is NO. To run maps, you need to invest in infrastructure. And its a huge investment. With very little returns. Very few countries in the world have such infrastructure. So in short, maps can't be changed to Kenyan.
From my experience the functionality you mentioned are never a problem. If you can change the three above, then you are awesome.
You got a point, but that error we fix prevents you from enjoying Japanese Radio, Japanese maps and all the other things you mentioned. Some people end up spending 10k+ to replace their "useless" radios when we have the solution for 1,500 only.
