I thought KRA uses the month/year of registeration, rather than the month/year of manufacture in determining the amount of depreciation to charge?

It's actually an "8 year old rule"

This used to be evaluated based on the date of loading onto the vessel transporting the vehicle; A recent interpretation has shifted this to the actual date the vehicle arrives in Kenya.

1. If the difference in the raw years is under 8 years, you are safe.
2. Once 1 above is met, then consider the months to get the actual exact age. This is what will be subject to the depreciation table used by KRA to determine the duties et al.

In short, any vehicle manufactured or first registered in 2007 is eligible for import this year.
