I once read a book 'My Life in Crime' written by one John Kiriamiti. I am told he is still alive. So of thieves dying young, I am not sure.

And where is Munyu Bar?

It is a National heritage. From the founding father(of all thieves), our firts president who stole land from all of us to the civil servant who steals from the government coffers. I am afraid that we may have more thieves than non-thieves in Kanya.

Only problem with stealing is that you never enjoy your loot. the lord makes sure it is enjoyed by people who never worked for it, like your son, wife etc. thieves are always in fear of been caught, and keep planning on how to get caught.

most thieves die young or are caught; in short,it is a profession where you don't enjoy the fruits.

I agree totally. The point I was trying to make. What we need to do is have better ways of law enforcement and crime would be a thing of the past.

I'm taking a pacifist's stand. No one should be armed. I don't think
it's just to take someones life because he wants your property.
Grievous bodily harm is also not right. What people forget is that
violence only begets violence.

Allow me to propose something. Thugs don't want to kill you for it
causes deeper investigation. The thug is willing to kill you to get to
your property, and it's normally more than one. If you choose to shoot
at one, or are found with a gun, you die. So it increases your risk of
death while it reduces your risk of getting robbed. Criminals do not
like any gunfire as it raises alarm, messes up the operation and
thereby increasing risk while reducing return. Simply put, a gun is
only useful against one thug and there rarely is only one thug. Any
other case and you are increasing risk to self. Further from this, you
have the problem of escalation. How many traffic police have been shot
dead on site in a robbery? Few. Why? They don't pose a security
threat. If all citizens get guns, then all the thugs will do is shoot
on sight. You have to realise that some thugs rob armoured vehicles
with armed police, what is a vigilante with a hand gun to them?

Contrast Britain and Japan, which have stringent arms control to the
US and Mexico which are more lax? Or Somalia? At the end of the day,
our laws should aim to decrease use of force. Have you ever thought
about the rationale of arming a Police Officer? This is only one side,
but you are basically buying arms with citizens money <Tax money> to
kill or maim one of those very citizens. You cannot claim that because
he stole he does not pay taxes. He is stealing to use the money in the
economy so he pays VAT off his stolen loot?

Anyway, this is off-topic. I rest here.
