No, we are NOT prepared. //seriously, are we ever?// Remember the ridiculous "measures" the govt took when Ebola showed up in Uganda? And those happened ONLY after some suspicious infections occurred in Nyeri or someplace.... Now imagine how lethargic it'll be considering the flu is in Mexico, waaay further. @Mwangi, binge on all the pork you can. Its safe. <sarcasm>Besides, the meat is inspected, imports tested, right?</sarcasm> </MotoBaridi> On Mon, Apr 27, 2009 at 2:07 PM, Lmwangi <lmwangi@gmail.com> wrote:
Hi all, On a light note: http://xkcd.com/574/ - Am asking for leave to go binge and eat badly :)
On a serious note: The 1919 flu killed ~ 2 - 5% of the world's population. So if this flu goes pandemic, we could be looking at 350,000,000 dead going by the same rate. Yeah, we have better drugs and better understanding but we also have air travel and sprawling slums.
I wonder what the Kenyan government is doing about this. Are we prepared? _______________________________________________ Skunkworks mailing list Skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke http://lists.my.co.ke/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/skunkworks Other services @ http://my.co.ke Other lists ------------- Skunkworks announce: http://lists.my.co.ke/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/skunkworks-announce Science - http://lists.my.co.ke/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/science kazi - http://lists.my.co.ke/cgi-bin/mailman/admin/kazi/general
