I agree. Things worth paying for are those that have value added services..... eg, video games that allow you to play online. IF Microsoft could allow document viewing and sharing via a platform like google docs. Yes, that's a valid reason to pay for the software. My issue is not whether or not you should pay, it's the temerity the Microsoft .ke office has to release a poorly thought press statement. I can assure you that Microsoft Office paid version in no way improved my excel skills. In no way did it improve the quality of my spreadsheet. I'm guessing their next claim is that paid Outlook will allow you to send typo-free emails and that CV's edited in paid MS word would be guaranteed a job.
That being said, I'm not advocating piracy. If you are using software I believe you should pay for it (if you don't want to pay for it, use Open Source alternatives), however, using scare campaigns...
