Here's a great overview of HTML5 and what is coming soon to browsers (and already here in Safari, Chrome and Firefox. Chrome Frame for IE folks). It is a long-ish video (50 minutes) but it is worth the time.

The future of the web is *really* exciting. The present is app-based (a la App store) but the future likely will be webapp-based.

PS On a related note: it is funny watching font makers go thro' the same script record labels and hollywood studios went thro' 10 years ago. Those who don't learn from history are assuredly cursed to re-invent it: http://goo.gl/k2k1

PPS It is quite amazing to note that IE has had @font-face support for over 10 years (!!)
