Ok so this is interesting - you only seem to have a Unicast IPv6
address. Which means something else might be wrong.

What is your netsat -rn (not sure what it should be on ubuntu) am
looking to see if you have a default gateway for the IPv6 - maybe
wananchi is doing something.

Try and disable the IPv6 (though i dont think this is a problem) to see
if you will get an IPv4 address with the DHCP.

Is there an option for a static?

It would be nice if he can show us the same output when he's able to access the Internet (via the router). That way, we can see what IP he gets from the router.

Oh, and a traceroute to some host when things are working - then we can see his exit IP from the router.
