That is quite technical, which many users will not do, meaning that the user will be the weak link in the system

When you buy a security device even if its ur guardian who has sold it 2u do the following

 - CHANGE the password(s)
 - DEMAND user manual
 - Research on the type and model of the device to know more about it, eg backdoors, master passwords, reset options etc
 - In the case of a car tracking device buy a SIM card specific to the device

Once all the above have been fulfilled reset all passwords and logs in the device and make your own entries. If it is the kind that can allow multiple "users" manage the device, then reset all users and only enter those you deem fit, the installer MUST NOT be among them.

If the device has function disabling features eg stopping a vehicle; then change the password

Even if the company that installs your device is licensed by CCK or any other agency, you being in control is key to how much it serves you
