@Adam thanks for your suggestion. I obviously can use Ubuntu on CLI but I doubt the intended users (the designers would).
@Chris: will get in touch.

More ideas n quotes are still welcome. The  iMac just freezes n while rendering and we want to give the designers machines that "freezes less" and will not melt :-).

What about using a cloud service and paying by the hour?

For 47Kshs you can get a quad core machine with 15GB of RAM on Kili:
