We are still no sure what type of data the guy aims to copy -protect.
Perhaps we would give specific answers to specific questions.
So what kind of data are you trying to copy protect?

@Dennis - I think the watermark is the nearest to a good solution on
the issue, and also encrypting volumes looks viable in low circulating
volumes. Whether or not to take your cue on distribution is left to
the vendor and not a solution to the underlying issue IMHO
