Exactly! All It takes is the equivalent of what we would invest in nuclear technology to invest in all geo thermal capacity, which suffice to say is very contingently situated. Suswa and naivasha, which can serve the east, nakuru, bogoria and surrounding areas for western kenya. Truth is, the trouble that needs to be sorted is the inefficiencies that exist in the power sector supply chain. On 7/29/09, ndungu stephen <ndungustephen@gmail.com> wrote:
Kenya power used to buy power from Kengen at Ksh. 1.45 and sell it at around Ksh. 7....
And at that time [sometime early last year and 2 years ago] Kenya power used to claim losses.
Now this does not make sense - Power in Kenya is one of those hottest services with ready buyers and ready demand - no need for marketing.
Infact - most of us practically beg Kenya power to 'vuruta' stima to our rural homes.
Are we forgetting "geothermal' power ? Its there in plenty in the deep pockets of the rift valley -- and Kenya Power promises us [biased] black outs in months to come...
Not forgetting the inefficiencies of the solar panels..... and those unreliable wind turbines that depend on the mood of air movement.
Interesting.
