@dennis Have read both articles and I don't really understand: Will the gvmt actually build towers and put up the equipment? It sounds like it in the article. What would rolling out otherwise mean? That they have their own backbone in place and are looking for partners to do the last mile (ie LTE)? Or have they just allocated the 2.5GHz frequency to the public (like 2.4GHz for wifi doesn't require a license)? This does not sound like rolling out anything but just allowing the public to use a certain frequency? On 11/18/2010 12:55 PM, Dennis Kioko wrote:
The mandate of the ministry of communications is not to feed hungry kids, but to make communication accessible and affordable, even to residents of North Eastern province. The mandate of the ministry of roads is not to feed hungry kids, but to make travel easy and fast for all, e.g by reconstructing Thika road. If the two ministries are within their mandate, why rap them for for providing internet to a hungry kid who may one day update his twitter account on the situation of their area and travel to Nairobi via a superhighway to be marvelled at infornt of your TV as you enjoy snacks form the supermarket?
