Personally, I would fry the computer and install Arch or Ubuntu.

But, if you don't want to do that, at least reinstall Windows from scratch - who knows what adware/malware was installed on there by the manufacturer/previous owner.

Then, if you really want Office, install 2012.  Otherwise, Libre Office is a solution too.
