This has and continues to be my attempt at putting accountability in various services we get in our country: Websites Concerning Kenya<http://www.website.co.ke> Here's how: 1. Every business, organisation, religious body, govt dept, etc that has been registered needs to have a website. A number already do. 2. List all these websites on www.website.co.ke in a directory. About 3,000 listed so far. 3. Have the public (that means you) rate and comment on the services that they provide. I'm working with a bunch of students to put in some initial comments. Expected results: - A resource where quality service providers get advertised by the public. So that the next time your looking for a bank, ISP, hotel in Kisii, or whatever, you know where to look. - The quality service providers get better businesses, and the lousy ones are 'encouraged' to style up. This is not a direct challenge to the governance (or lack of), but who knows what crazy ideas may spin off of this. 2009/7/7 joe mwirigi <joemwirigi@gmail.com>
Its a pain. More so since its true. I percieve that our main problem is with where power lies(Money) Those who control this have more say on what and where the government shows its alligience. All structures in this country are bent on who do i pay to get into this || out of this. What CAN WE DO? I would suggest we think of ways of earning crazy(IT) wealth. We should have skunks and skunkettes wrecking in billions in a week. Heads will turn, Power will be on skunks/ettes. Then we choose a w/man with vision, heart and may be a whip. We also know campaign is money - so we can spam the nation with his/er philosophy. We will have our way in the governance structures. I commit a traffic offence - an my e-card is filled and pay penalty on zain as i drive-on and the offence is recorded in the various databases. A little of a fantansy but its all money - drug money for compaign will get us a drug-baroned governance. blood-money ,..... a blooded governance. Money from crooks... a crooked government. IT money... BElieving In Everlasting Springs

how do we get started?
First "we" need to accept the reality that we are a failed state. Now the "we" here is where the issue starts. If the citizens accept this as a fact, will our leaders do the same? We don't have much clout on our MPs to start with. It never happens until election time approaches. However, we all know for a fact that the failed state issue is a consequence of the 2007 elections, the ramifications of which we all know and that is where we need to start! The real question is "How", as you already put it. We need our legislators to take cognizance of this fact and do what needs to be done to correct it. That which needs to be done is as diverse as the Kenyans are divided on the truth. We need functional governance structures.
