There was an interesting comment a couple of years ago about the future of OpenERP - its commercialization, although still premature is likely to occur in the near future; "If venture capitalists are willing to invest $3M euro to increase OpenERP market share, then 1) They see a product that can increase its revenues (and profits) by at least 10-100X in the next 3-5 years, and 2) They see a path to liquidity (public offering or sale), whereby they expect to recoup their investment." I prefer Ofbiz - its more community-driven, not so easy on the user as it is on the developer but is much more diverse in functionality. all this could be handled by OpenERP.

Hi everyone,
I hope this finds you all well.
I am looking for a computing system for a factory that deals with milling. May I first begin by briefly describing what happens at the milling plant. The lorries delivers maize which is measured for moisture content, whether GMO or not and for Aflatoxin. Once all the aforementionedtests are passed, the maize is weighed on a digital weigh bridge then the consignment is offloaded for storage before milling is done. The milling plant can produce flour as the primary product and bran as the by product. These two products are temporarily stored and later stashed in lorries to ferry to wholesale customers and other institutions while there will be a shop at the factory that shall be doing retail sales which should also be captured in the system.
Some of the things I would like to capture are; when raw material isdelivered , the weight of product, vehicle registration number and the name and contacts of supplier, the moisture content of the maize etc
The system am thinking of should be able to give the state of the business at a given time. That could include, the inventory which includes the p roducts (flour and bran) and the raw materials (primarily maize), pendingpa yables, pending receivables, etc
The system should also be capable of generating daily, weekly or monthly reports or for a period I wish to generate a report. The report could be having details about sales, tonnes of product sold, tonnes of by product sold in a given period, list of suppliers with their contacts.
A module for processing salaries should also be included.
Anyone with contacts of who I should contact regarding this is kindly requested to refer them to me and in case anything is not as clear from my explanation above, then feel free to ask for more info.
best regards, Stephen
