@Alex, sry could not reply earlier but when you mention about Int'l
gateway licenses, your research should start at the Telco level. It's
only Telcos who are allowed to operate such gateways and those that
can are lucky to do so a liberalized telco sector. If a country has
not liberalized its sectors, then you will not get anywhere. Licenses
vary from local, regional and international services and there are
tiers of operators. Am glad your research will show you how advanced
Kenya really is and that the Telecom sector is wide open to
investments. This my friend, is not to be found in many countries
where monopolies are protected by political decisions because Telcos
tend to be the economy cash guzzlers and dumping grounds of failed
policies and un-audited corrupt practises. We are quite ahead of
others, thanks to those who saw the vision of Kenyan telecoms earlier
but unfortunately licenced operators are the let down. Now that the
new law gives the regulator a fist, things are going to change for the
better. This is my sincere hope that we are now evolving to a better
stage rather than being held back.
