I have a friend working on such an enterprise. Here's a thought. Most Kenyans labour under the mistaken impression that to succeed you have to do it using the one-big-deal-that-sorts-you-out-for-life. Not true. I wonder if Safaricom, Orange, Zain & Yu would consider setting up application portals -- something like the apple app store. Local developers would submit applications that would be vetted and if approvied availed on the portals for download to their customers. There would then be revenue share between developers and the telcos. Everyone wins. Jobs created. Innovation fostered. Telcos make money. Pipe dream?

Hi good people, I'm torn between a choice of platform based on the underlying application. I would like to implement a system for the court registry. Among other things, the system should be self updating at the point on which data is entered, the result of which is sent to the web interface for the public. There are several categories of users with different levels of access. Its an online based system. PHP comes in handy though I tend to think Servlets have the power to handle the volume of transactions of this magnitude especially by the fact that it combines both a stand alone system that feeds the web-based interface, save for the complexity that comes with it. Guys, Just a note, I have just finished downloading winDVD (178mb) within 6 minutes on a vodacom connection in TZ which am paying a monthly flat fee for. Hi good people, I registered fort the above conference and I've been trying to get in touch with one Evans Kahuthu since then without success. All my emails to that domain get rejected by their spam filter, I called the landline provided, 020530700/1 and the nice lady at the other end says there is no Evans Kahuthu there. Should I get worried? Anyone have more information?
