Sharing... I called Orange today for another issue and got talking about the Ksh 2000/2000Mbytes service. A CS lady called Beth, after a brief discussion with her supervisor, confirmed that the above package was available, to my surprise as last week it wasn't after talking to another CS person and also unable to buy that bundle. She was apologetic about the misinformation I had received last week. I loaded ksh 2000, bought the bundle and it works.

1.5 billion Apple App Store downloads achieved in a year

Today Apple<http://www.gsmarena.com/15_billion_apple_app_store_downloads_achieved_in_a_…>announced that the number of downloaded applications from their App Store has just exceeded 1.5 billion. Just one short year after the launch of the online application store the figures unequivocally suggest that this is one of the most successful projects in the mobile industry history. What's even better for Apple is that the download rate is increasing - it was less than 3 months ago when the counter on the company's website flipped over the one billion mark. This suggests that since that moment an average of more than 6 million apps have been downloaded every day. With more than 65,000 apps available to 40 million iPhone and iPod touch consumers in 77 countries those numbers aren't really surprising but they are a success nonetheless. Solaris 10 troubles

Happy people, once again hope you are all ok. Now, am running Solaris 10(+OEM) on a pc workstation with plans to use it as a server(jus not yet). Thing is the machine had a small partition with OpenSUSE 11 installed which naturally 'disappeared' after the Sun installation. Unfortunately when i tried to mount and even force mount, it failed miserably with this error message 'hal-fixed-all-mount-options refused-uuuid 999'. Help needed here, am using the command line a lot so all manner of help appreciated. Two, i need to use 'ssh' and probably ftp for remote users in a Sol10 server environment. Which works best, more efficient and user friendly? Thanks and God bless y'all. -- People should know when they are conquered.

Bad science

I am reading the horizon magazine in today's daily nation and David Njagi says "Further, this means that 11,375 pounds of carbon would find their way to the ozone layer every day". Err what has carbon got to do with the ozone layer? And what's with the imperial units? Am I the only person who get's totally ticked off by bad science in articles? KPLC’s fibre network deal stirs TV market

Multi-media firm, the Wananchi Group, is using the national electricity transmission network to build a fibre optic platform expected to open a new front in the bruising battle for control of Kenya’s lucrative media market. The platform – a product of an agreement between the media firm and Kenya Power and Lighting Company — puts Wananchi on a converged media highway that enables it to compete in television content, internet provision, data and voice transmission markets. “We are deploying the “design unseen” network in key urban areas that enables us to install our fibre network on KPLC’s electricity poles,” said Suhayl Esmailjeee, the chief operating officer at Wananchi Group. A national fibre optic network running on KPLC’s power transmission system offers Wananchi the potential to play in TV broadcasting and telecoms markets and a chance to compete in the internet service providers (ISPs).
