I would discover that Shell Kenya were selling a quality and innovative Diesel fuel........ A while back my SWB Pajero that has a 2.5TD engine started giving problems on fuel consumption and everytime I changed gears, the engine would belch out heavy black smoke. This was disturbing as it hindered the drivers view of vehicles who were behind my car, not forgetting to mention what the smoke does to the enviroment. And cold start in the morning would be more noisy than usual. The thermostat helped in warming up the engine pretty quickly but for times I needed to rush, the engine would not pick up quick acceleration from cold start. I sent the car to a friend who would get a diagnosis done on the cyclinder compression, injection pump and injector pressure, nozzles, and the turbo charger. All these items were checked and serviced well though the turbo was intact as I get the engine oil changed quite frequently. When the car got back from service, it was belching out black smoke but to a smaller degree. I was not impressed about this as the main reason for sending it in for diagnosis was to get rid of that problem. I got a few opinions and they could vary from engine overhaul to replacing the injector pump. I was not convinced this was the problem and had started looking at getting a diesel exhaust convertor ( something similar to a catalytic convertor ) or something that would help. Someone suggested that I try the Diesel Shell fuel and I was initially skeptical about this. I topped up fuel at the Lavington Shell Station ( not the one at Lavington green ) and immediatley felt the difference in engine performance. The engine ran quieter during cold and hot start. And the best part was the belching of black smoke from the engine went down by almost 90% even on hard driving! Now I regularly top up at that station and will be sending the car for a re-calibration based on the new fuel. Why does Shell Kenya do such a poor job of marketing its innovative fuel technologies? Had I not discovered the fuel, it would have been an endless journey of trying to fix a problem that in reality lies with other diesel fuels that are being sold in Kenya. I have seen fairly new diesel trucks on the road and they still belch heavy thick smoke on load and always wondered why. Shell calls their fuel, Diesel Extra. That's my experience, hope it is helpful to someone out there.

gnokii does this pretty easily, and with the smsd extension it saves directly to mysql and then you can parse the text with your favourite scripting app (php et al)...tested a Nokia 1680 and 1200 this morning on Lucid...yet to tinker with an N97... What tool can I use to get the HTTP URL of the file(s) being downloaded by this tiny file? Mpesa paybill business number - data problems

Dear great people, I am currently developing a system that allows customers to make payments for items through mpesa using the safaricom paybill system. Works pretty well extracting the data from the excel sheet safcom normally provides and updating the accounts. However, my challenge is that I want to eliminate that human intervention where one has to import the excel from mpesa database and then upload to the ERp system we are developing.. I know an API would be the solution but of course Safcom wont give you access to database so no way to get the data update seamlessly. Any one with such an experience and do you have some kind or recommendations basically to assure the client on data integrity. regards Oliver

I like the optimistic tone this article takes. I could bet the author was paid to title it this way by the power companies, possibly even KPLC. The row in question is about installation of diesel power, the most expensive form, which means even if the whole thing were put in place, it would contribute to the national power demand and cause us unnecessary grief anyway. So how is this row threatening more expensive power if in the first place it is a row about who will give us expensive power in the first place? ......... ----- ........ (Possibly) breaking the law in China

Hey good people, Since (most of) y'all are techies and are better at this than me, I thought I might share this with you. Am in Beijing China and using this laptop that has never been used in China before. When I typed in 'google' on the address bar, it gave me results using Baidu! Now, I gather that Facebook, Twitter and YouTube are blocked in China. Sadly, those are also some of my favourite sites for work and play reasons. So am staying at this '5-star' hotel and when I couldn't get on any of the sites from the wi-fi on PC or mobile, I started questioning its 5-star-ness. It only occurred to me later that this state choke-hold on info is for real here. Anyway, I digress. Technically, you're not supposed to be able to get on these sites whichever way, right? Wrong. Because I can. I have Snaptu on my phone, its an app that does Twitter but also FB etc and I've set it to remember my details so I dont log in every time. And I can do both FB & Twitter through it. There have been several discussions about the Orange modem on Linux (and probably others). I'm sure 99% of the problem is the pin requirement. Just diabling it will end the misery. (I should have known this..) You will need the interface that comes with the modem to disable the pin, so you need Windows. A scientist at the University of Reading has become the first person in the world to be infected by a computer virus. Dr Mark Gasson, from the School of Systems Engineering, contaminated a computer chip which had been inserted into his hand as part of research into human enhancement and the potential risks of implantable devices. These results could have huge implications for implantable computing technologies used medically to improve health, such as heart pacemakers and cochlear implants, and as new applications are found to enhance healthy humans. Dr Gasson says that as the technology behind these implants develops, they become more vulnerable to computer viruses. "Our research shows that implantable technology has developed to the point where implants are capable of communicating, storing and manipulating data," he said. "They are essentially mini computers. This means that, like mainstream computers, they can be infected by viruses and the technology will need to keep pace with this so that implants, including medical devices, can be safely used in the future." Dr Gasson will present his results next month at the IEEE International Symposium on Technology and Society in Australia, which he is also chairing. A high-end Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) chip was implanted into Dr Gasson's left hand last year. Less sophisticated RFID technology is used in shop security tags to prevent theft and to identify missing pets. The chip has allowed him secure access to his University building and his mobile phone. It has also enabled him to be tracked and profiled. Once infected, the chip corrupted the main system used to communicate with it. Should other devices have been connected to the system, the virus would have been passed on. Dr Gasson said: "By infecting my own implant with a computer virus we have demonstrated how advanced these technologies are becoming and also had a glimpse at the problems of tomorrow. "Much like people with medical implants, after a year of having the implant, I very much feel that it is part of my body. While it is exciting to be the first person to become infected by a computer virus in this way, I found it a surprisingly violating experience because the implant is so intimately connected to me but the situation is potentially out of my control. "I believe it is necessary to acknowledge that our next evolutionary step may well mean that we all become part machine as we look to enhance ourselves. Indeed we may find that there are significant social pressures to have implantable technologies, either because it becomes as much of a social norm as say mobile phones, or because we'll be disadvantaged if we do not. The real headers show it's not her address.. The View now has a hyperlink that appears crafted in such a way that if I click it, I'll have opted-in to this silly thing called myfanbox.com. During those years I've used Web Crawler,Magellan, AltaVista, Netscape, Infoseek, Lycos and Excite. The Spider was the funniest. Where were you in those years in technology? Those days you heard of some guy called Linus.. and at some places KPTC dialup was between 800 - 2400 bps. You would hear the Telex machines print at 300baud? And the telephone ringer on the green KPTC handsets with a rotary dial would scare you if it rang in the middle of the night. KPTC was prompt at fixing problems too. :-)

UK Government spends thousands on iPhone apps....

6 July 2010 Last updated at 05:00 GMT BBC News has learnt that the Government has spent tens of thousands of pounds developing iPhone applications. A Freedom of Information (FOI) request revealed that development costs ranged from £10,000 - £40,000. These included a travel advice app from the Foreign Office and a jobseekers' tool. But the Home Office declined the FOI request for information on its iPhone apps, saying security concerns "prevent us from supplying information". The information comes just a few weeks after the government announced it was to conduct a review of all 820 of its websites. A report by the Central Office of Information has revealed that the government spent £94m on website development and running costs and £32m on web staff in 2009 - 2010. The most expensive application was a proposed Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) app that provides "a masterclass for changing your wheel". Documents seen by the BBC reveal that the DVLA Motoring Masterclass app would cost £40,000 and would also work out fuel mileage, act as a hazard light and track RAC patrols. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/10514367

My last contribute for the day..... :-) I bring this up because there was a thread on this list about asking about random numbers etc. A good place to start to know more about Randomness and Pseudocode etc is this man called Alan Turing and the tests he did. A genius..... So after many months of reading various stuff, ( little or no code yet ) I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. Reading and understanding about AI, a few more months to go before anything tangible can happen as far as the actual game development goes. Rgds.

Submarine cable failures are inevitable - that's why people have (and should have) backups on separate cables. some quotes : "We are a branch-less bank," said Mwangi at a function held at their Equity Bank Centre offices to announce the results. “This means that all the bank’s branches are linked to each other on a Wide Area Network (WAN) and that all transactions are carried out on the bank’s networks. With this, customers can perform banking transactions from any branch other than their own branch.” Equity's ICT infrastructure include a core banking software that is capable of holding upto 35 million accounts compared to the current 4 million accounts it holds. Equity also has a 65 million way 4 card switch, and as a security measure has implemented the EMV standard on their cards ensuring that all transactions carried out by their cards require PIN authentication. Mwangi stated that the bank had also partnered heavily with other telecommunication companies to tap into telecommunication products and services to enhance their banking services. Such partnerships included one that sees Safaricom Mpesa customers being able to perform withdrawals via Equity Bank counters and ATMs. Most Mpesa customers that use Equity are those transacting amounts greater than Kshs 15,000 (US$187) who usually face difficulties as most agents deal with smaller amounts due to Mpesa float restrictions. The bank handles 2500 Mpesa transactions per day and earns an average of Kshs. 50 - Kshs 60 (US$0.62-$0.75) per such transaction. The bank also recently launched a product known as the Equity Mkesho account in partnership with Safaricom's Mpesa that links Mpesa to a bank account. Since it was launched two months ago, Mkesho has ben growing at 20, 000 accounts per day to the current figure of about 400,000 accounts. Mwangi said that he expects the number to keep up at the pace as the registrations so far have been done at Equity without the help of Mpesa agents who will be offering Mkesho registrations soon. At the moment, Equity allows merchants across the country to accept payments using Equity ATM cards. So far 3,000 merchants have implemented the system. In future technological developments, the bank is looking at using agents thus allowing customers to withdraw money from retail outlets such as shops. This would be a further addition to their branchless network and would see 4000 such outlets rolled out. The agents have already been licensed by the Central Bank of Kenya and are undergoing training. Mwangi also announced that the bank would allow consumers to borrow loans through their mobile phones starting September 2010. The devolution of retail banking away from the branches would enable Equity Bank to use its current staff to focus on Small & Medium Enterprises(SMEs) Banking. Technology supporting the bank include a WAN that sees branches have three redundant links with fiber as the primary link failing over microwave links and VSAT as the last link. The bank operates four data centres including a new Kshs 6 billion (US$75,000,000) Tier 4 data centre at Equity Centre. Tier 4 is the highest classification for a data centre guaranteeing maximum availability and redundancy. Equity has also put together a competent ICT team led by Allan Waititu and John Staley. The two said that the bank was commited towards ICT security and had put stringent measures towards this. I have a laptop, HP 6710B running Windows Server 2008 (x64) R2 STD which I'd like to virtualize. I actually intend to run Windows 7 on this laptop but install VMWare Wkstn and get the Windows SVR running inside. All my attempts to use VMWare converter to virtualize this live machine have failed. Did anyone succeed in doing this? while I was away. I've been catching up on reading various articles. The following is my summary interpretation/direct quotes from the articles. The articles are in the East African ( June, July ): 1) Seacom down again! Comment = Terrible...blames it on some repeater near segment 9 allegedly near Mombasa coast. This company is starting to look like a used market goods operator. The Seacom cable network is shiny brand new, not even algae nor reef plants have made the equipment a home yet, failure rate on the network is unbecoming of international operator standards. 2) Kenyan government had handed over its 20 per cent shareholding in Teams to France Telecom to run as part of their settlement in the dispute over Telkom Kenya's missing assets after privatisation. France Telecom was also granted the monopoly to manage all of Kenya's national fibre-optic network, the government's contract for voice and data. The French firm now controlling Kenya government's portion, it now controls over 40 per cent shareholding. It controls the national landing station for all fibre optic networks and has this huge access to bandwidth capacity and distribution means that it is arguably the most important player in the wholesale market, and potentially in the retail market if it gets its act together. But Communications Permanent Secretary Bitange Ndemo defended the move saying that despite the landing base and infrastructure being put under France Telkom, it would be operated on an "open access basis". ( article June 21st -- Also under this deal, NOFBI is now no longer under govt control. ) Comment = A serious development. Now those anti-dominant rules surely apply. 3) Meanwhile, the Eassy fibre optic cable that was expected in June is yet to be switched on. The West Indian Ocean Cable Company (Wiocc) that is managing Eassy on behalf of 12 African governments, said the cable, which was partly funded by the World Bank, was developed as a social more than a commercial development enterprise and can only be managed by governments. Chief executive officer Chris Wood said the firm was no longer certain when the cable would go live. He said that at inception, national telcos in the participating countries signed contracts binding them to purchase bandwidth from Eassy, and price it within parameters that will drastically reduce the cost. "Inevitably, some cables will have to die and be purchased cheaply," he said. Sources familiar with the goings on intimated that the Eassy cable could be rerouted from Kenya, dealing a major blow to expectations that the country would get faster Internet. "The country is on its way back to monopoly in the fibre optic infrastructure," an insider who requested anonymity said. Mr Wood revealed that the cable is ready to go live in all other countries except Kenya, which is the headquarters of Wiocc, chosen because of its being a hub, and possession of superior infrastructure. He, however declined to say whether the company planned to leave Kenya. Comment = Did the same gentleman not go public when Seacom launched and say that Eassy will have a cheaper and different model so that ISPs can buy bandwidth on lower commitment basis? The above says a lot of what was planned. Rumor had it that Eassy would go live in Kenya around the 10th of this month? Anyone confirm this? 4) Mr MJ comments. "There is great value in having Eassy completed at the soonest possible opportunity as it will provide much needed restoration capacity for the other two cable systems," and also adds "From our experience the deployment of international fibre systems is a costly and delicate process. In order for the return on investment to be realised it is essential for the capacity on the cable to be taken up," said Safaricom CEO Michael Joseph. Comment = Did Mr MJ know more about the new developments ( Orange/TKl and govt deal ) and could this be the reason Safaricom is/has been looking at lower in the food-chain business revenue rather than higher? 5) Hon Ndemo comments. Apple claimed at its press conference Friday that virtually every competing smartphone faces the same antenna challenges as the iPhone 4, but three of its competitors — HTC, RIM and Nokia — have since stood up and challenged that claim. Apple used as an example the RIM BlackBerry Bold 9700, saying that holding it a certain way will cause signal degradation just as with the iPhone 4, but RIM’s Jim Balsillie and Mike Lazaridis were quoted by CrackBerry from the following statement: Apple’s attempt to draw RIM into Apple’s self-made debacle is unacceptable. Apple’s claims about RIM products appear to be deliberate attempts to distort the public’s understanding of an antenna design issue and to deflect attention from Apple’s difficult situation. RIM is a global leader in antenna design and has been successfully designing industry-leading wireless data products with efficient and effective radio performance for over 20 years. During that time, RIM has avoided designs like the one Apple used in the iPhone 4 and instead has used innovative designs which reduce the risk for dropped calls, especially in areas of lower coverage. One thing is for certain, RIM’s customers don’t need to use a case for their BlackBerry smartphone to maintain proper connectivity. Apple clearly made certain design decisions and it should take responsibility for these decisions rather than trying to draw RIM and others into a situation that relates specifically to Apple. Nokia jumped into the fray too, bragging that it was the pioneer of internal antenna technology, and claiming that it has this all figured out while Apple is just playing the blame game for its foolish design decisions. Here's an app (Product Recalls) that I use fairly regularly and that has been surprisingly useful, considering it is a government smartphone app: http://apps.usa.gov/product-recalls-2/ It checks product recalls from a bunch of US govt. agencies and provides you with the latest such info. I have found it extremely useful when shopping for baby stuff; previously we used to rely on recalls being covered by the media. Turns out there are many, many more not covered at all. A very simple app, and very, very useful. It got me thinking about what dead-simple govt. apps could prove useful in Nairobi. Any ideas? Compiling freeradius 2.1.8 server on ubuntu 10.04

Hi all. Am trying to install freeradius on ubuntu with out much success. The" ./configure, make and make install" go well without error but running in debug mode "radiusd -X" gives me: ------------------------------------------------------------ Could not link driver rlm_sql_mysql: file not found Make sure it (and all its dependent libraries!) are in the search path of your system's ld. /usr/local/etc/raddb/sql.conf[22]: Instantiation failed for module "sql" /usr/local/etc/raddb/sites-enabled/default[159]: Failed to find module "sql". /usr/local/etc/raddb/sites-enabled/default[62]: Errors parsing authorize section. ------------------------------------------------------------------ I googled and found out its a shared library misconfiguration in the ubuntu so linking the shared library is not possible. So anyone who knows how to work this out or has installed the same successfully give me some pointers. using the one in the ubuntu repo is not an option in this case.

When i try to ping, can get the IP address but the packets get lost in the process. Am able to access other sites as google and the rest but only a particular site that am experiencing this issue. I was playing around (seriously) with the flash mem (is it called thus?) upgrade procedure on a Cisco 2811. Needed to learn how it is done. So I wanted to install a 128MB flash (not from Cisco) to replace the 64MB from Cisco. After go-ogle failing to show me the correct page, I resorted to a copy to tftp and back. I saw an option of copying to a flash disk (usbflash) but it couldn't read the 8GB one that I have (obviosuly due to the system limitations, iirc). The phones, which were provided with a full service package and donated by the US government, were to ensure that personnel had access to communicating with headquarters from any location in the country and with the build in global positioning system (GPS) be able to map all IIEC registration and polling locations throughout the country. "These phones will vastly improve the ability of the IIEC to conduct its work," said Rene Meza, Zain Kenya CEO during the handing over of the phones. Zain Kenya sourced the Blackberries for the US government donation. In the recent voters' registration around the country IIEC introduced electronic voter registration (EVR) in nine constituencies across the country. The EVR captured more details including the voter picture, thumb print and all critical voter data. Mr Andrew Limo, IIEC's public relations officer said that ideally the use of electronic systems should be incremental and not a big bang implementation that is why it was starting with voter registration as the body explored options of using it in voting ( source is BD ) Question : What system is the blackberry sending its data to and did the commisioners receive training to use the devices? Microsoft is warning that attackers are exploiting a critical unpatched Windows vulnerability using infected USB flash drives. The bug admission is the first that affects Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) since Microsoft retired the edition from support , researchers said. When Microsoft does fix the flaw, it will not be providing a patch for machines still running XP SP2. In a security advisory, Microsoft confirmed what other researchers had been saying for almost a month: Hackers have been exploiting a bug in Windows "shortcut" files, the placeholders typically dropped on the desktop or into the Start menu to represent links to actual files or programs.(See also "The Ultimate Guide to Windows 7 Security.") "In the wild, this vulnerability has been found operating in conjunction with the Stuxnet malware," Dave Forstrom, a director in Microsoft's Trustworthy Computing group, said in a post Friday to a company blog . From the little I've read, I require an enhanced license so that I can have the "Failover" and "Dual ISPs" features enabled, no? I have contacted a local vendor, who is telling me that <quote> Hi Odhiambo, The failover license is only applicable when you have two ASA appliance and you need High Availability on the appliance not links. If you have two internet links and you want to load balance, then you might need a Cisco router. </quote> Now, can someone tell me: 1. Why I'd need failover license for two ASA appliances? Wouldn't those just work independently, or does one ASA have to autosense that it's workmate lost the Internet link and thus ask it to "failover to me"? :-) 2. How do I enable those two features? I have two ISPs (DSL and SDSL). I'd like to terminate both on the ASA and let the device handle cases where one link goes down. 3. I think requiring a Cisco Router for my situation would be an overkill when I already have ASA. Hi guys, I am running Office 2003 on a certain computer with a HP Laserjet M1319f MFP Printer/Copier/Scanner with the latest drivers installed. When I run the Document Scanner Application and click on the *Scanner...* button, the dialog box that follows has a drop down that ought to list detected scanners, but lists nothing. Just to add to what aki has mentioned. Lenovo already have the Intel chipsets on their thinkpad edge 13. The laptop has been available since Feb at about 600 dollars. The 4G/Wimax is based on the Intel Chipset and Radio technology. Okay @Eva, lets see if I have got this right, the way I see it you are looking for either of these two scenarios: 1. The person taking the quiz is grouped based on the number of question answered correct so the prototype in this case would translate something like... out of 20 questions if 0 to 5 correct then thats group A if 6 to 10 correct then thats group B if 11 to 15 correct then thats group C if 16 to 20 correct then thats group D 2. Or you could group the user based on how many questions answered within categories. So for example I have a preoject and I have 5 developers and I'd like to know where each would fit in best and I give them a battery of tests and they are tested on these things. 1. Web Development 2. Software Testing 3. Database Development 4. Driver Development 5. Software Design Each category can have five questions and you could rate them based on the who tops each category. if one person tops more than one category then you an rate them on the best score from within all the categories He topped. and so on. So is that getting you somewhere or am I off? Regulating Skunkworks.

Hello Skunks, A while back, the list administrators wanted to implement some rules regarding off topic items,job advertisements and flaming,among other things but upon protests from many on the list (myself included),they shelved the idea. However, watching what goes on on the list day in day out, I think its time skunkworks developed some sort of method to SELF regulate. My proposal is that the list admins come up with a set of rules that they think will help mitigate the problems most rampant on this list.We as skunkworks can then vote on the rules and choose to keep a number of them. e.g the admins come up with ten rules and we vote to keep five that we deem to be most important. This is basically a call for us to acknowledge that this list is presumed to carry the best brains in the techie world in Kenya and we should thus hold ourselves to a higher standard than would be acceptable were this not the case. The list is becoming a joke if it isn't already one. We can stop the rot. What do skunks think?

Heavy Rain and Batman scooped Best New IP and Best Use of a Licence or IP respectively at last night's Develop Awards in Brighton. Batman developer Rocksteady went on to win Best In-House Studio (it's now part of Warner Bros.) and Heavy Rain maker Quantic Dream was considered the Best Independent Studio. KRA portal

I have tried to access it via the portal but as far as I can go it just tells me I have one without displaying it. . .Or I Will just have to walk to times towers? For those new to FreeBSD, you may not know this : The latest release of FreeBSD is version 8.0, released in November 2009, and follows the FreeBSD tradition of bringing new and stable features to a fast and robust platform. FreeBSD 8.0 offers enhanced virtual hosting with Jail v2 and network stack virtualisation courtesy of VIMAGE, Xen Domu support and VirtualBox, a new USB stack, and enhanced Dtrace and ZFS support. FreeBSD may not have acheived the giddy heights of Linux in the public imagination, but is secure in its own substantial community of users, has been ported to a variety of architectures, and has spawned a number of offshoots, derivatives and forks, (of which the best known are probably DragonFly BSD and PC-BSD, which is aimed at the desktop user, features a super-friendly package installer, and has won awards for user friendliness). But winning the game has never the primary issue for the FreeBSD developers. FreeBSD contributor and author of Absolute FreeBSD, Michael Lucas says: "Competition doesn't really enter into it for most of us ... You don't see FreeBSD developers sitting in a smoke-filled room plotting the overthrow of Microsoft. We sit in light, airy rooms and plot where to get the best drinks." FreeBSD is not just a kernel, but an operating system, and the FreeBSD community, which is tightly knit and democratic, oversees all the software that constitutes a FreeBSD operating system, including the more than 21,000 packages contained in the ports system, which is roughly equivalent to Debian's package management system, and consists of software that has been developed outside the project. Just as BSD code finds its way into Linux distributions, FreeBSD uses KDE or Gnome and other software written for Linux. The FreeBSD community can be likened, in its focus on technical excellence and quality and the structure of its packaging system, to the Gentoo and Debian communities in the Linux world. Coincidently, Gentoo has a version of its operating system that uses the FreeBSD kernel, and the Debian project announced last year that its own distribution based on the FreeBSD kernel would be given official slots in Debian's experimental and unstable directories. Both projects have preferred to retain the GNU userland in preference to FreeBSD's userland tools. Debian GNU/kFreeBSD is described as "a port that consists of GNU userland using the GNU C library on top of FreeBSD's kernel, coupled with the regular Debian package set," and will make for interesting comparisons as the project matures. Although FreeBSD hasn't had the public impact or profile of Linux it has grown steadily, as "the unknown giant among free operating systems", and is probably as healthy as it has ever been, offering the traditional virtues that are often associated with Linux, such as price/performance, security and stability on commodity platforms running Intel or AMD Processors, or tucked away quietly on widely used networking devices from the likes of Cisco, Juniper, Force10, and NetApp. The BSD license has an idealistic and permissive relationship with the code. Third parties can take the code, repackage it, and pass it on in any form they wish without any obligation to feed code changes back to the community. BSD users argue that freedom is indivisible and the user should be able to do as he or she wishes with the code. In the words of Benjamin Franklin: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." A natural corollary of this is that the code can be recycled in any form, proprietary or free, as long as the original attribution is preserved. This position has benefits and drawbacks, depending on your point of view, but from the perspective of those that advocate BSD licensing, reflects a faith in the better side of human nature - and if some parties appropriate the code for proprietary ends, so be it.
