Anyone implemented this before (with the mssql function prefix or with ODBC?), I'd like to know the pitfalls if any-the client is very big on stability. Guys, There have been talks to formalize this list... The simplest way, in my opinion is a foundation. There have been a number of offers to finance this "list" but given that there is no formal structure, it's rather difficult. What does the foundation do? Simply, community outreach... The idea would be to have events that are geared towards spread of ICT in our greater community. e.g. - Build an open source time-table/school management system that can then be implemented by list members for free in schools. - Take weekends to go to remote schools and harmonize their networks, convert them to foss etc - Community education initiatives e.g. do networking, programming, Unix etc bootcamps, at no cost to the attendees. The idea is to simply spread technology in the greater community. How it will work? Well, the funds will be directly channeled to the foundation. Audit's should be undertaken etc. However, working for the foundation, like everything has been on the list will be purely voluntary i.e. no one gets paid, never a job, just a bunch of concurrent projects... Im in need of info on where the nearest one to kilifi town is located. It is a shame, that today i finally meet someone that lost an ID card go to the police station and get denied an abstract, actually asked to come back in november (obviously a ploy to solicit monies). Hi guys, I installed SquidNT on my Windows 2003 proxy server and I have noticed that it has become slow lately. I am guessing that the reason for this is the many files that squid has to read and write to coupled with NTFS performace issues. I'm just wondering if there are certain settings in the squid.conf file that I could tweak to enhance its performance. I do not want to switch to a Linux box yet because of some other reasons that I do not need to list here. My LAN has about 20-25 active internet users and my link is 1mbps symmetric. Anyone with some tips that could help? Me.

Look at the log files. They may have grown big in which case you need to stop squid services delete them and squid will regenerate them once services r started. Hi skunks. I have some blackberries and Nokia's thet i have configured to access corporate email on Exchange 2007 Blackberry: Blackberry Internet Services. Nokia: Mail for Exchange / Activesync. My issue is that Nokias can access using SSL Blackberry Internet Services CANNOT... it refuses to acknowledge that mail.domainname.co.ke is a valid server. The BB has other valid accounts on gmail, yahoo. I can use /owa on any browser including the BB's WAP browser. Am sure its a certificate issue on BB, just not sure why it should reject completely. On Nokia it gives a security warning, i accept permanently For BB, am stumped. Any ideas? Thanks. /.Sam

Dear folks, i have a machine that is affected by the conime virus and one cannot access safe coz it gives out blue screens. it also crashes the antivirus program while scanning. im using security essentials which detects the virus as backdoor:win32/ircbot.gen! I cant run combofix coz it gives me blue screen while running and cannot access safe mode.Blue screen. it also prompts for network login with wierd ip addressess and sends out links to all your skype contacts tried a repair but has not worked.I dont want to format the machine. Mark created them."[1] Zuckerberg himself recalls this period: "I had a bunch of friends who were artists. They'd come over, draw stuff, and I'd build a game out of it." However, notes Vargas, Zuckerberg was not a typical "geek-klutz," as he later became captain of his high school fencing team and earned his diploma in classical literature.[1] Napster founder Sean Parker, a close friend, notes that Zuckerberg was "really into Greek odysseys and all that stuff,” recalling how he once quoted lines from the Latin epic poem Aeneid, by Virgil, during a Facebook product conference.[1] During Zuckerberg's high school years, under the company name Intelligent Media Group, he built a music player called the Synapse Media Player that used artificial intelligence to learn the user's listening habits, which was posted to Slashdot[20] and received a rating of 3 out of 5 from *PC Magazine *.[21] Microsoft and AOL tried to purchase Synapse and recruit Zuckerberg, but he chose instead to enroll at Harvard College in September 2002. A short time later, he created a different program he initially called Facemash that let students select the best looking person from a choice of photos. According to Zuckerberg's roommate at the time, Arie Hasit, "he built the site for fun." Hasit explains: We had books called Face Books, which included the names and pictures of everyone who lived in the student dorms. At first, he built a site and placed two pictures, or pictures of two males and two females. Visitors to the site had to choose who was "hotter" and according to the votes there would be a ranking.[23] The site went up over the weekend, but by Monday morning the college shut it down because its popularity had overwhelmed Harvard's server and prevented students from accessing the web. In addition, many students complained that their photos were being used without permission. Zuckerberg apologized publicly, and the student paper ran articles stating that his site was "completely improper." At the time of Zuckerberg's "fun" site, however, students had already been requesting that the university develop a web site that would include similar photos and contact details to be part of the college's computer network. According to Hasit, "Mark heard these pleas and decided that if the university won't do something about it, he will, and he would build a site that would be even better than what the university had planned."[23]

Guys, Am on Firefox 4 Beta, quite a lot stolen from Google Chrome in terms of the interface. I love the speed but the change in menus, right click options and a few other navigation options is a little confusing but I think its the best version of Firefox yet. They have a feature called "Web Developer" which also borrows from a few independent extensions that I have used before including firebug. Safaricom has done quite some revisions on their tariffs and data bundles but their Bonga points redemption matrix remains unchanged ever since. I have been hoping (and praying) that they can at least revise the merchandise, given that even some of those they list are not anymore in the market (I may be wrong!) but with prices always depreciating, is it not logical that Safaricom put some revision into this loyalty program?? Can Safaricom also make the point system a little bit realistic when compared to the merchandise?? In anticipation of Debian's "Squeeze" release early next month, pointing sources.list to the non-free repository should be a thing of the past for most users, and while using manufacturer-supplied firmware and drivers leaves you assured of the hardware functionality bit, it does raise some questions where privacy and security are concerned especially where the software in question is propriety/closed source - restricting full access of these firmware or drivers in the kernel.. no telling whether the developer decided to 'invest' in a backdoor.

The Commission expected that the reduction of Interconnection termination rates would influence reduction in retail tariffs and consequently generate more competition in the market. Subsequently there has been considerable reduction of retail tariffs both for voice services and SMS, which has resulted in a significant increase in minutes of use on the GSM networks in the country. This is an indication of positive market response to the changes in prices. Airtel Networks Kenya Limited, recently launched an offer in the market under the name, *feelanga free, *costing the on-net calls at a retail price of Ksh. 1 per minute from 6am to 6pm. Based on the information availed at the launch, the public has perceived it as a permanent tariff. Further, the Commission has received a complaint filed by one of the GSM Network operators that it is not clear whether *feelanga free* is a promotion or permanent tariff. Upon enquiry by the Commission, Airtel Networks Kenya Limited has since clarified that *feelanga free *is a promotional tariff, w.e.f, 13th January 2011. The Commission has further instructed Airtel Networks Kenya Limited, to comply with the promotional guidelines as provided in the Kenya Information and Communications (Tariff) Regulation, 2010. The Commission also wishes to emphasize that network operators are free to adopt business models that suit them. Matters of cost structures and profitability are therefore left for the determination of individual operators. I think it is time we in the ICT industry and on the subject matter take the Minister of Information to task. I'm not too familiar as to how it can happen but if there is anyone on this list who knows an MP that can raise these or how it should be done, we will start to get some answers. 1) Has any displinary action been taken against those responsible for the security of the kenyan govt ICT infrastructure, in the case of the Police website? 2) We need to know names of companies that are responsible for Govt websites and what was the selection criteria used 3) We need to know the amounts spend by Govt on such websites 4) Is there a tendering system in place for govt websites 5) Have minimum website standards been developed to ensure that they are compliant with current world trends? Just noticed that a couple of hotspots in Nairobi don't offer WEP2(mostly WEP) protected access and are vulnerable to MITM attacks, and ofcourse most users are not keen to ensure that critical sites they log into use the HTTPS protocol. *Tempted to place stickers around such hotspots reading "You do have a translucent glass on your bathroom window, don't you? then why login to critical sites without the S after the HTTP on your internet browser?"

Being a Kenyan I decided to dial the 0900 number. Beware when you dial this number, you will be charged Kshs. 60 per dial whether it goes through or not. As for the Kenyan I am, I tried 3 times and the number was obviously busy and was charged Kshs. 240. I have just watched Money Matters hosted by Larry and it's amazing how a whole program was featuring Safaricom. For starters I have never understood the media's obsession with Michael Joseph and the unending romance follows him post "retirement" (sic). I have worked in a media's business desk and I know that there are plenty of business stories but the journalists/reporters don't want to go after difficult stories which is very inexplicable. Good Afternoon, I have received the following SMS from Safaricom "*Dear Customer, you can now buy airtime from as little as Shs. 5 from your M-PESA Account. Airtime purchased via M-PESA is absolutely FREE. Thank You*". I know it means that you will not be charged for buying airtime via M-PESA but it is misleading as it could be interpreted to mean that if you load airtime through M-PESA it will be absolutely FREE (the amount will not be deducted from your M-PESA account). I might wrong or may be reading too much between the lines. What do you think?

Hello folks Checkout this scenario Table 1 columns -> | table_1_id (pkey) | some_column | comments | Table 2 columns -> | table_2_id (pkey) | some_other_column | table_1_id (fkey) | comments | All primary keys are of type serial or auto number. The 3rd column on Table 2 is an fk that references Table 1's primary key. I would like to insert rows into both programmaticaly (from a c++ app) Do i have to insert to table one then SELECT-query the entry's primary key then insert the Table 2 row with the pkey result? Is there a more efficient way of handling this? Say using almost 2 queries? PS. A postgresql specific solution would also work

I seriously hope that this http://bit.ly/famTA5 is just some fanatical reporting at Nation Media (would not be shocked) but if so, if these words came out of your mouth bwana PS, THAT THE PRICE WARS IN THE MOBILE INDUSTRY MIGHT DERAIL THE NEW CONSTITUTION. Are you for Real? Is that not cartel behaviour right there? So now what, are you going to "adjust" the lowest interconnection fees upwards to normalize all this? so that what? Safaricom can make more money? Playing on the public with FUD now? what happened to market forces? who would run their company to a grind just to offer the cheapest? Revenue collection? how about we first spend PRUDENTLY what we collect? how about ALL of us pay taxes for starters? and why not just LOWER taxes and increase the tax bracket? I have never been disappointed like i have on reading this. If it looks like Impunity, Smells like Impunity , guess what it is....
