Hi, I have a domain (@mydomain.com) with email hosted on Google Apps. Recently I have been receiving mail delivery notification failures for emails supposedly initiated from hijacker(a)mydomain.com and bouncing back from various organisations. Hijacker has somehow managed to register multiple email accounts on @mydomain.com . (These are not on my Google Apps admin panel or my domain hosting Cpanel mail accounts) Is there a way of 1. Ensuring registration of unauthorised accounts on @mydomain.com do not occur. 2. Finding and deleting any current unauthorised accounts. Well, the issue is there is a long standing saga between the TZ government and the Dr.s in Tz.Drs have their demands that they want the government to deal with them otherwise they will keep on protesting.Dr. Ulimboka was the leader of their community and a kind of radical. After the long negotiations ,things were still worsening while people were dying in government hospitals.Government went for military trained Drs but no where they could match up with the traffic of patients lets alone the challenges related to competency.As its well obvious now the ruling CCM is in ICU and under too much pressure CHADEMA to be the next opposition party(just like the retired KANU), the incumbent government decided to go for Mafia style .Using its intelligence wing they kidnapped the dr. Ulimboka and moved him to the infamous torture site in remote bush.The guys did what they can do best "torture" uprooted his teeth ,his nails using pliers, beat him inhumanly and dumped his body in the bush while he was unconscious.Luckily the guy was alive and served by a passerby.It tool a while before the news spread all over the country . As if the issue was not over, dr Ulimboka was in Hospital with a crouwn of people and fellow Dr.a guy from the national intelligence was found busy reporting to his masters that the guy is still alive.People were very furious and they started beating him intending to kill him before the police could come and rescue him.Drama were never over the same guy from state house who was involved in kidnapping of the dr came into the hospital.The weak dr . asked him openly and calmly to return his wallet and phone.The dots started to be connected. After all these drama the " MAGAMBA" CCM was confused,disabled and under tremendous pressures.The plan A was to take some prisoners from the countries most notorious prisons and relocated them to the same bush,kill them, bring the news to the public that "The guys have beet caught and killed in the police ambush and gun exchange". Chances are foreign citizens were the target.So now they have decided to go for this Kenyan guy(No one is sure if they have an agreement to divert the attention or he is a sacrifice).Luckily kenyan embassy has come into the public and notify the publuc that they are closely following the issue. Listers, I was wondering what had gone wrong with my usually-very-fast Internet connection in the last two days but it looks like the answer is here : http://www.standardmedia.co.ke/?articleID=2000053001&pageNo=1 . As you may be guessing by now, a ship has yet again docked in the wrong place and damaged a cable! Get used to the slow connection, it will be like this for at least 14 more days! (ouch) In the eyes of Albert Einstein, we(Kenyans) would be nothing but insane since we have done things in the same way expecting different results! I may not be a prophet but I can assure you this is not going to be the last cable cut! Hello Skunks, I would like to know if there is a solution out there for billing users in a WiFi / hotspot connection that is not pegged on the duration you stay online but by the packets of data downloaded and uploaded. I am thinking of having a small wireless router at home and charging my neighbors monthly according to the data volume they use. like the way bundles work. Further, has anyone tried it in this list? Hey skunks Who is using CentOS 6.* , been finding it a bit odd from previous versions mostly in the installations and not yet mastered a perfect installation. Two points to note are it defaults to runlevel 3 if you chose a server installatation (was stuck as to why I'm not getting a GUI) Secondly I installed a 32 bit on 4GB ram, now it only recognizes 3.36GB. kernel-pae is no longer a module on this version so how do I enable it to recognize 4GB ./TheMburu -- Conservatism is the adherence to the old tried against the new untried.

Hallo Skunks I am about to spend some money on a laptop, not more than 60k. It has been my understanding that Intel core 13 is better in processing than Core 2 Duo. Today a certain techie wanted to dispel this, saying that the Dell Inspiron 1545(Core 2 Duo) would be better than the Dell Inspiron N5040(Core i3 2.66GHz with 3MB Cache) which is currently being sold by Safaricom at 52k. I am not much of a developer, I do simple wordpress css and php dev for my site and other sites I run. Most of the stuff I do is blogging, reading (I can have upto 30 tabs of browser open) and ofcourse simple image editing for use on the blogs. Disk space problem

Dear skunks, If you remember a few weeks ago I raised an issue regarding storage space in a clients network. The thing is that nearly all the computers appeared to have full disks. The network is about 10 users, all running Windows 7, with Kaspersky Internet security up to date and the scans done. Now it appears that the HDDs are actually not full. Majority of them are 320 GB HDD and they would show that they have like 1.5 or 7 GB free, though you cant really tell what is taking the space. Then, after some time, some of the PCs go back to show the real status, like 70 Gb free etc. A PC would be showing that its full in the morning, then by lunch time it shows the real status. I suspect some viral activity or malware. Anyone seen this before? Localhost & 127.0.0.1 problem Help

Hi All, I encountered a unique problem(to me) While i was setting up remote Mysql Access to a server. (1). Edited my.cnf to bind at the server address instead of 127.0.0.1 (2). Allowed access from my remote ip on the iptables (3) Added host to mysql and granted access to the database (4) Realized something was wrong all 'localhost' configs could no longer access db -shoot! I reverted to the old my.cnf (5)Hell broke and could no longer access server via localhost as host but can access only though 127.0.0.1 as host. Stuff I have checked and done (1) /etc/hosts had the directive that localhost is 127.0.0.1 (2) Passwords on mysql user are Ok (3) Reset users,host and passwords but still access denied for user@localhost (4) Restarted mysql n times (5) Drunk lots of tea My question: How do I make it revert to the Old access where localhost meant 127.0.0.1 Could this be the sockets and TCPIP issue is there hope for getting back? even a google pointer here is welcome since my eyes are now red (cant tell whether its sleep || 'am so screwed color' || part of the bug help! Well tried to help myself but couldn't, had to share this from a friend, (1) Did a job, agreed quote [50k] a DB and a website (2) Finished the job, the lawfirm wrote a contract on which the pay was 30k. (3) Pal->What about the 50K we agreed upon?, lawyers-> we never had a contract on that. (4) Lawyers -> take it or leave it 30k cheque is ready after you train us. (5) Pissed he trains vowing never to do this kind of job again (6) After training -> here is your 27k cheque ->we paid 10% to KRA on your behalf. Well this story is so real and so kenyan.... Guys I guess we should all know how to protect ourselves not so much from other business owners but those who seemingly seem to fight for rights (this was a firm that deals with 'human rights of soughts'). Skunks, I just unboxed the S3 and wanted to share initial thoughts The hardware is second to none that I have seen so far. The quad-core processor manages all applications, whether they are on the screen or running in the background, very easily. Video at 1080p definition is just a cup of tea, the camera takes pictures so fast that you have to get use to the fact that there is no lag between the moment you press the button and the shot being taken. Then of course there is the email, Google+, all the social networking and communication that you would expect. Chrome Beta for ICS is one of the best mobile browser experiences on a mobile devicevery well thought through and easy. Whats more it syncs your desktop chrome browser so that you can view open tabs ( on your computer on the desktop as well) S voice ( samsungs Siri alternative ) did not impress much. I guess they have to customize these things for africa for instance call Kamau voice command and the thing asks me if Im sure I want to go and come out ???? However the most striking point that I found is the telephone voice communication – after all, as this is a telephone, so it should also be good quality when making phone calls. And the quality of calls seems to be very impressive indeed as I was told in a number of occasions how good the call quality is even when I am on the road or in a noisy environment. Security ....One of the most secure devices ever with excellent security features. Camera has fantastic shutter speed with no delays, also fantastic image quality. The touch screen is also impressive with vibrant colours and good accuracy, then there is also the front side camera that is a really good performer on video calls. Another point if you decide to add a memory card (the phone can already store 16GB but HD video and 8Mp images take a lot of memory) the phone’s back opens very easily and you do not have to remove the battery when replacing the memory card. There are a few points that could be better. For example, the volume rocker is placed exactly opposite another button that locks the phone. If you are not used to this you inevitably end up pressing them at the same time. This hasn’t caused me trouble so far, though placing them slightly out of axis would have helped. Also the way you answer the phone is different than, say, the HTC interface. In a way it’s better as you are less likely to pick up accidentally, but it takes a while getting used to it. I was impressed by the OTA upgrades from Samsung...love the experience My conclusion is that as we are in an era where smartphones are similar to computers, with pretty much standard operating systems and software, the differentiators are the operating system itself and the hardware of the phone. There is little argument that Android is better than iOS as I write this, so this phone is already a winner on this front; on the hardware side too the Galaxy S3 is a winner as at the moment this is the most advanced mobile phone that you can find on this planet.

Coming from the states pretty much all my stuff runs on 110 volts, including my printer. A lot of computer equipment and electronics sold in the US these days is dual voltage, so take a look at the power supply and see the voltage range. If it is 110-240 then all you need is a plug adapter to turn the US style plug to the Kenyan/UK one (see VP-18 on the following page http://www.voltage-converter-transformers.com/plugadapters.html) If the voltage is 110 only then you need to get a voltage converter/step down transformer. I recommend getting one that includes a voltage stabilizer as well. You'll need to check the wattage on your printer to determine which model to get. For my Canon printer I use one that is rated for 350 watts. I have a bunch of Simran stabilizer/regulators that I've been using for the last four years that have worked well for me (http://www.voltage-converter-transformers.com/voltage-stabilizer.html) Even with pretty severe power fluctuations the only repair I've had to do is replace the fuse which is both easy and cheap. I've seen similar devices for sale at various shops downtown that that sell TVs as well as at the store on the ground floor of Yaya Center where they have the all the little solar lamps. One needs to check the IMEI number by dialling *#06# then send the IMEI number to 1555. Your service provider should give you the response appertaining to the status of your phone. Don't shoot the messenger.. 1) The iDeos (commonly referred to as the idiot).Referred to as the idiot because its users are mainly idiots. The same people who rush to buy stuff just because it is on offer-stuff like mathuruare za Ngara, Komeleras on offer, penis enlargement pills and cheap liquor. For most, the iDeos is an upgrade from the phones they had. Being the cheapest android phone in ...the market, ladies, please don’t date ideos users, especially if you’re sure the bill will surpass the 300 bob mark. 2) The Nokia. The Asha series is mostly for ladies who like big ‘things’ that can fit perfectly in their hands. Asha phones are for people who can’t afford proper Nokia’s like the E-series. If you own a Nokia with numbers denoting its series (like 3310), we can safely assume that you still own a Kencell simcard and you have cracks in your feet. You also partake hormonal beers like Summit lager and Pilsner lite if you are a dude. If you are a woman, well, you are the kind that asks the I.T guy whether installing a 32-bit O.S twice will make your machine a 64-bit. If you own a twin-sim Nokia, you are a con, a hopeless romantic or a local business person with a nagging spouse. I get it, Nokia’s are very handy phones, especially those ones that have ‘fat’ chargers….the vibrate on them is just awesome. Ok.Motorola-The last time I saw a Motorola phone was two years ago. If you own a Motorola phone you are dead to me. Moving on…. 3) Samsung-If you own a Samsung Galaxy I salute you; with my middle finger. That’s just a zoomed in ideos bro. We get it that you love big things, but really? Guys with Samsung smart phones have belt/bra pouches for their phones, same people who deposit massive amounts in their M-Pesa accounts in a bid to impress M-Pesa attendants. Those who own Samsung touch phones are very flashy people, picking calls with no regard in queues and watching YouTube videos on full blast in Jeevanjee Gardens. 4) Blackberry users, well, there’s nothing much to be said here. These are business men/ women who shop for clandes using BBM. Blackberry is a name; sadly it’s just a name. A Blackberry is not a smart phone, it’s just a phone that has so much respect for the dead that there are even outages when people like Steve Jobs die. Pro tip: Turn your Blackberry into an iPhone running IOS5 by simply removing the battery-sadly Blackberry users won’t get this joke. 5) iPhone users are the epitome of elegance; if you own an iPhone, use public transport and live in a rental house you have low sperm count. IPhone users are at the top of Maslow’s hierarchy; you cannot have an iPhone and drive a Vitz. No, those two are mutually exclusive. You cannot have an iPhone and also use 4square, no; you become a disgrace to primitive Kenyans everywhere. You cannot own an iPhone and listen to riddims, or have a weave or shop an eNGARAsha. In fact you cannot call yourself a sufferer if you own any apple product; unless it is a Chinese version of the iPad (commonly known as HiPad and the apple at the back has been bitten twice). 6) Alcatel and LG users are on a class of their own. I won’t call them anything that won’t offend them. These are people with abnormal fetishes like foot jobs, who like trying new positions in bed and are atheists. They mostly shop at Gikomba, Muthurwa, Toy market and along roads. They are the main consumers of roadside products like roast maize, peanuts and yams; which in turn makes them the most ardent buyers of dewormers. 7) If you own a China phone we cannot be friends, I’m sorry but I value my ear drums more. Who buys a phone that has a feature that can change the users’ voice? As a matter of fact, if your phone has more than two Sim cards it is Chinese. If you can hear your phone ring in a club it is Chinese. If it has a ‘BMI Index’ calculator and an aerial it is Chinese. If it has a funny name like ‘Thamthung’, ‘iPone’,’Nokla’,’Forme’ or ‘Mblakbery’ ; came with more than one battery, has a radio, T.V and you don’t get results after Googling its name it is Chinese. Basically, if your phone has Chinese as a language option, or begins to charge every time you are near a socket outlet I’m sorry. 8) If your phone has a torch, wewe ni certified sufferer. Come for your certificate. Same people who use stoves and charcoal iron boxes. Keg drinkers. Night runners. You either drink too much or have lost too many phones, or you live in a very insecure place. Bottom line, wewe ni sufferer. Watu wa ka-quarter-quarter sugar, rice, meat and even vegetables. 9) Flap phones are for people who still watch ‘The bold and the beautiful’. They drink Stoney and Allsops. Anyone from Zuku on the list? I need some support. We have a client who is running the Zuku Triple Play Internet connection which I understand issues a dynamic IP to the (Router). This connection is shared between two companies and we are looking at how to separate the two networks so that they users cant access files across. Which is the best way of doing this? Right now all the PCs in the two companies are getting dynamic IPs from the Zuku Router which means its a really open network. How can i read a file using this and output texts like "*we are smart people"* to the above eg; /usr/bin/python mass-sms.py `cat sometext` `cat /root/numbers.txt` Hope am clear.

(If you do not wish to get a paybill number or wish to get started faster, do let me know) 2. Request for the Paybill Number to be linked with MPESA ONLINE (i can assist you with this once you have a Paybill Number). 3. An account gets created and you do the integration (we can do this for you). 4. If you have a Paypal account, we shall integrate it to this gateway so your customers have an additional payment method - To see a quick dirty test: http://www.bernsoft.com/testshop.php When you click Pay on that page, it should lead you to the Safaricom Payment Gateway where you cann complete transaction and be routed back to our Product page. Considering a standard track is about 50MB, would you as a music lover consider buying $1.99 a track? or should i just rip for the 128k mp3 masses... Ive got like 18,000 tracks to start with. Solar powered street lights == power for small home?

Good people, I am increasingly fascinated by the solar powered street lights I keep on seeing around, I saw a couple of new ones near the Museum. Question: anyone know exactly how these work? Is the power stored somewhere? How much does a single "unit" cost? Can it be combined with a small'ish wind turbine? And most importantly, assuming I could afford one unit, would be sufficient to power 5 laptops? I look forward to the day I shall be completely rid of KPLC from my life.

Pay bill Bulk payments

We have been waiting 3 years for Safaricom to give us an API for bulk payments and we continue to wait. In the meantime we developed our own solution that screen scrapes the M-Pesa B2C website. Plenty of others have done the same. The tricky part is making it robust enough to deal with the more and more frequent outages and severe slow downs that site experiences. Before developing our own solution we looked at a solutions for sale by couple of others but they all took a "fire and forget" approach where the system would attempt to upload the payment but would not track the payment through to completion on the site to make sure it actually completed. This didn't give us the level of reliability that we needed. That was a couple of years ago so these days there may be commercial systems out there that can do it. If you do try to develop your own solution make sure to ask Safaricom to give you access to the training site so you can test your system without actually sending money. These days with the frequent outages of the B2C site we are seriously looking at alternative mobile money/banking systems, particularly for stuff like payroll that is time critical. The larger question to this is how we can prove this with factual data. Buying Sound equipment

First it started with a long walk around Ronald Ngala and Mfangano streets. Many stalls selling speakers, sub woofers but almost none with a 3.5 mm jack. Few even understood what 3.5 mm jacks are, I got asked what season of this I wanted. The only place I got them , they were at Ksh 20. Using them, you have to maintain them plugged at angle θ, otherwise the jack doesn't work. Today it disintegrated, part of it is stuck in some equipment, the other is shown here (complete with earbud to stabilize): http://yfrog.com/muhcojj Please help me before the government has to spend taxpayers money on me in Mathare, where in Nairobi can I get decent 3.5 mm jacks and a speaker wire.
