Hi, Anyone out there selling padded laptop backpack bags that can fit the new generation light weight slim laptops (Lenovo X1s, Elitebook 820s etc) I am having issues with users being unable to properly protect them from physical damage. The hardware is mostly hard plastic and the bags available are not properly padded plus most of the bags are designed for bigger laptops. The slot where one inserts the laptop is therefore not tight enough to secure the laptop from moving around when inside the bag. Laptop wallets /envelop bags are also welcome ... KRA has the technology and this is not probably a tech issue but more to do with the complexity of the system, makes it hard to use. The security on it also annoys too and once you switch the "chicken security stuff" the whole thing gets fails. I don't understand what they would like to achieve by this complexity. Even if it spins on the fastest hardware, the issue is the same, as a user spent more time on a single issue, trying and trying, call KRA, them they try and have tried, then you are told please try again. If you dont have operations in the region, it would be hard to get resources allocated by Afrinic. The best way is to approach a local Internet registry. But let it be known, Afrinic has enough v4 addresses to last a decade. Problem is fraudulent applications from other regions capitalizing on our lack of need/use of the resources. These tablets labelled "Docomo" are one of the few manufactured thus would not be hard to identify. Am putting this message out there incase someone tries to come to one of us to try and unlock it or sell it. I have the IMEI and we are preserving as a last resort to remote lock and wipe out the device or Blacklist it from service. If you can, do a technical masters in SA with an attachment at an SA tech firm. Get out of Kenya and see what more there is. Why SA? Because Europe or US will suck you in and I’ll invite the wrath of fellow skunks/skunkettes. Why a technical masters? Because standards are higher in SA than in Kenya and a bachelors degree is not enough. Not in this day and age. The attachment will expose you to industrial standards that most schools are not privy to. If you do stay in Kenya, try and get into Safaricom whose size implements IT at substantial levels. There may be others (feel free to enlighten me) but that’s all I know. I think the price is quite good if it includes both windows 8.1 and office 2013. Considering the 2 cost around 25k-30k depending with the version of office.

Research Support Services ( www.rssgroup.co.ke) is currently looking for a data analyst/statistician for a short (5 day) consultancy assignment to support one of our ongoing survey programs being carried out in Northern Kenya (Wajir, Mandera, Turkana, and Marsabit). The successful candidate will be required to: - Review the already developed survey instruments and advise on their relevance and adequacy prior to data collection. - Develop a data analysis and tabulation plan for the quantitative and/or qualitative data based on the validated study tools in order to meet the study’s reporting requirements. - Undertake quantitative and/or qualitative data analysis based on the analysis and tabulation plans developed and produce a statistical abstract report as required. - Provide necessary support within the allocated timeframe to Helpage with regards to interpretation of the study findings. We are seeking qualified and self-motivated individuals with the following key qualifications; - Master’s degree in Statistics, Applied Mathematics or any relevant Statistical discipline from a recognized institution. Undergraduates (Bachelor’s Degree) with a statistical background complemented with work experience related to data analysis for monitoring and evaluation purposes shall be considered. - A demonstrated experience working for research projects in monitoring and evaluation, including design of quantitative and qualitative data collection tools, design of data analysis & tabulation plans and quantitative and qualitative data cleaning and analysis and reporting. - Expert knowledge of quantitative and qualitative statistical software preferably SPSS and NVivo, but also R+, SAS, Stata, CSPRO and Atlas Ti. - Possession of good organizational, team player and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate and interact effectively with clients and; - Ability to rapidly interpret and translate data into literature and simple reports. The consultancy assignment shall be based in Nairobi, Kenya and will require working onsite for a period of 5 days. Preference will be given to qualified candidates who are able to start immediately and/or on a short notice. I second jaginta ever since equity left a bad taste in my mouth back in 2009 it's been dtb. it depends with your relations with the branch managers .I ocassionaly do a swift transfer to China etc in a few hours .their I bank and app facility is mzoori I never have to leave the desk to transfer funds through rtgs.
