Am looking at changing ecosystems from Android to Windows. I have used Androids for a while and they get the job done. I also have an Android tablet which really doesn't give me any added advantage than a big screen phone, in my opinion. I'd rather go for a Surface. I have not used WP before therefore I am a newbie in that aspect. Now, this is not meant to start a fanboy war, but what I would like to know from anyone experienced in both ecosystems, what's your preference and why. I am not a gamer, in fact games are the first to get uninstalled in my phones. Notes, email, calendars, occasionally skype or whatsapp are my primary uses. Talk to me

This was just an example I was giving with the email and actually in fact, even though emails are easily visible..it would be really hard for them to be able to accurately associate a user’s email address with their number. For example, you have my email address but without crowd sourcing for info from other user’s; you do not know my number since it is not anywhere online. I do not think even many people stated their emails on SIM registration since more often that not people register for SIM cards before they even can access the internet and Safaricom is the telco becomes their first ISP and not many people fill out this info I believe. But think about it, with just a little bit of data analysis on their part from data they have about you already; any telco knows where you live, your current location, who your family are (from most called, texted or MPESAd people) and where they live, your habits(from where you pay with MPESA and location), what you talk about(from messages), what sites you visit(any ISP can tell this). Armed with your email address, any user with admin access to their servers can now investigate on a deeper scale on what you do online etc etc Using an email address, what you talk about, are opposed to, advocate for can easily be determined using APIs such as Facebook, Twitter and Google. At first it does not sound scary but in reality, a simulated model of any user can be created using all this data extracted and some machine learning used to analyze your predicted reaction towards a product advert, a political candidate or anywhere where there is a choice to be made. Lol..selling this information to any ad providers and governments would make any telco almost the same if not more revenues than they make from voice, sms etc. A long time ago people it was very easy to see how freedom was being taken away(physically) and it was easier to champion for the same freedoms..now each and every day we give away small bits of freedom for convenience without even realizing it Btw I am not a paranoid person :D :D. This is a cool feature but very scary for me. With just over 25m registered subscribers this gives Safaricom access to one more personal bit of personal user info i.e. your email. This Fellowship programme is aimed at challenging the existing tendency that seems to reinforce the male dominant discourse on conflict and security related matters. It will also develop a network of African women scholars working in the field whilst linking them with the peace, security and development mechanisms of African regional institutions. They are funded by the Open Society Institute and the African Women’s Development Fund. The Fellowships comprise of two six-month phases. During the first six-month phase at the ALC in Nairobi and King’s College London, the Fellows undertake full-time study of MA-level courses in leadership, security and development that are jointly developed by the ALC and King’s College London. The Fellows also have mentoring sessions on leadership, development and peace and security, delivered by a global network of renowned experts on these issues. They will study and visit various global institutions working in the field of peace and security. This phase will end with a simulation seminar during which a mock conflict management situation will be practiced. The second phase will be an attachment of Fellows to an African regional organisation, research institution or centre of excellence to undertake practical work in the field of leadership, peace and security including peace and conflict management processes. This is part of an unfortunate and growing trend. Rather than an exception, internet shutdowns are becoming the norm as more governments order the suspension or throttling of entire networks. Often justified for public safety purposes, shutdowns instead cut off access to vital information and emergency services, plunging whole societies into darkness. A growing body of jurisprudence declares shutdowns to violate international law. In times of shutdown, it is incumbent on the entire tech and telecom sector to join together to assert the rights of their users to freedom of expression, access to information, and assembly. Only by presenting a united front, and calling out the disproportionate and harmful impacts of government-ordered shutdowns, will the sector begin to mitigate and eventually prevent this abusive tactic.
