Prepaid Power Through MPESA

Incase you want to reload your prepaid Elec through MPESA here are the instructions. You can purchase the pre-paid electricity token through MPESA on your phone. Step 1: In the first step go to MPESA menu on your and choose PAYBILL Step 2: Second step input the KPLC prepaid business number 888880 and press OK Step 3: The third step put the 11 digit pre-payment meter number that you would like to purchase a token for and then press OK. Step 4: In the fourth step input the amount you wish to purchase electricity token between 250 KShs and 35,000 KShs and press OK. Step 5: Enter your MPESA PIN and press OK. Confirm that all the details are correct and press Ok Step 6: You will then receive a confirmation SMS from MPESA immediately. I have been wondering whats the interest might be for USSD applications here in .ke specifically applications not tied to an operator. A case point here might be M-order http://nairobi2011.ipo48.com/M-order by Hilda, etal. Do you think a service like this might benefit from a nationwide/globally accessible USSD interface like via +254 799 353535 number?
