Good day Skunks, I blocked http://www.facebook.com but some witty guys where still able to facebook on https://facebook.com. Apparently https://facebook.com uses port 443, when I blocked the port, using a port blocker I got from http://www.e-systems.ro/ I was still able to FB on https://facebook.com. Hi, I am tired of starting threads on this list and not having them posted. The last threads I have posted are not even Off Topic but they are not posted. Are posts first put on an embargo, then evaluated and then approved for posting or what? And what criteria is used? I have seen the quality of some of the posts to be wanting, but they still manage to get through...whilst mine do not. Are some skunks more skunker than others? Timo.

Hello techies, I have been invited by my Alma Mater for a brainstorming session with a view to improve their Computer Science degree program. I thought it would be a good thing to first of all hear from employers and supervisors of Computer Science degree holders what they think most graduates lack that would be worth considering when coming up with a computer science degree program. I agree with almost everyone but that one for Peter...enyewe I am also a Computer Science graduate and I have no idea how to install Centos and that other software he talked about But I digress... Most of what we were taught or rather learnt in university has no real-life application, or rather, I can't relate how Compiler Theory and Discrete Math apply in an IT support job Maybe if I would have interacted with systems more or been encouraged to solve problems that don't involve definitions of terms and other such stuff, I'd have been more prepared to think on my feet and problem-solve As it is, it's taken me a year to fully grasp that solving problems involves troubleshooting and trial-and-error instead of being paralysed with fear that I'll crash the server if I enter one wrong command.
