Global ISO meeting in Nairobi on information security standards

Dear Listers, ISO/IEC JTC1 SC 27 (INFORMATION TECHOLOGY SECURITY TECHNIQUES) STANDARDIZATION MEETING; 10-14th 0ctober 2011 will be happening at the KICC Nairobi, next week. This meeting is hosted by the JTC1 SC27 mirror committee of Kenya at KEBS and is open to those who have an interest in IT security standards and wish to participate. Participation is in terms of active interaction in any of the 5 working groups and those interested can find more information on this link: http://www.kebs.org/?opt=standards&view=ISOIEC_JTC1_SC_27 There will also be an open IT security standards seminar on Friday the 14th at KICC plenary hall and all are welcome. Looks like Safaricom has raised call rates

*Safaricom* rates: from 12 tonight, PrePay customers to pay KS 4/- pmin for Safcom -Safcom calls btw 8am -10pm +KES 2/- pmin fr 10pm -8 am. Calls to other Networks 5 shillings. I predict other Networks raising rates by Next Week..what are your thoughts ? Regards Kevin Omondi

Today my team of web developers visited a construction site in Copenhagen. We discussed feature requests for a client's construction project workflow system that they use to make the construction work more efficient. It then hit me that the more people get access to technology the more they want it. First its; we want a website to represent what we do, next its we want a system to do what we do more efficiently. I think web developers should welcome freebies such as kbo.co.ke as they will translate to more work down the line. D

[image: Kanjo] In what turned out to be a war of two raging bulls, the NCC swarmed Wilson Airport demanding that the business owners show their business licenses. It was seen as a way of trying to obtain bribes and intimidating the business owners. [image: Kanjo2] As is norm at the businesses operating at Wilson airport, the licences are obtained by making payments to the Kenya Airports Authority, who is in charge of the businesses operating at any airport. [image: Kanjo3] So when the NCC goons landed at Wilson Airport terrorizing the business owners, they were shocked when the KAA authorities clamped their cars in what was deemed as a violation of KAA rules of parking vehicles. Who's smarter now?
