Had a slow afternoon so spent doing some reading on the various above. What a disappointment that despite access to good education, universities and open exposure to the information age, we are still where time left us - ABSOLUTELY STANDING STILL, somewhere maybe thousands to a few million years ago. Absolutely nothing, not even any medical breakthroughs which is quite frustrating to realize. How many more generations and generations is it going to need? I suspect it may never happen. In current times ( say the past 100 years ), those who are wealthy can only think of becoming better enterprenuers while those at the middle and bottom end clearly seem to follow the same cycle. In another 1000 years, what will be written ? It may seem harsh but true. These are some thots: Why did time stand still? Why people cannot see this and know we have place in history. I think the next time one thinks of blaming doctors, lawyers of being too commercially driven despite taking oaths to their professions to serve human kind, know this : They are just doing what was taught to them i.e entreprenuership and investments. They will not improve or enchance their fields of expertise except those driven by eg Universities. To take this argument even further, what is corruption if not an extension of entreprenuership because people place themselves in positions to practise self financial empowerment through various mis-deeds. I ask you these straight questions. Did you invent fire? No! Did you invent gun powder? No! Did you go to your metal foundry today and create a bronze or metal device to further human kind? No! Did you do anything at all in the Information Age...... No! So keeping it simple and some food for thought for those who have a deeper thinking on issues. As usual, the disclaimer I can add is that these are just my amatuer views. Rgds. :-)

Setting up Google email alongside existing email server

Skunks, I have a scenario, i need to setup google apps email for students in a university, yet the already exisiting email accounts (for lecturers and HODs) should not be moved from their current email server. i.e student mails will be maintained in the cloud, while lecturers emails (already working) will be maintained at the university's server. How possible is it to have this kind of dual email handling? without ofcourse messing up the MX records of the already working emails.. -Alex

Though some of us may not exist or be too old to remember anything in 2030, we in the code world are lucky enough to change the destiny and outcome of what happens. If we started today and worked on a 2-5 year project that could become the biggest voluntary involvement of developers in the region and eventually the Icon of our engineering or design of the East Africa Information Age, what would it be? - Leave govt out of this. Things will never get done - Leave commercialism out of this as there are millions of people and developers out there ahead of us - Leave out an Operating System, there are plenty around - Leave out applications for poverty, community and social areas as these are highly contested by private firms, ngos, commerce etc Some thots, take your time and if you think it's a strong possible, then lets take it offlist at some point.
