She expects the stimulus package to contribute at least $15 billion to the industry over the next two to three years. And President Obama's push to increase the federal workforce and rely less on contractors will still create opportunities for local firms, she said. "It will only add to the need for IT services," she said. "Even if there is a slight bump in federal employment, the government still has to supply the technological infrastructure for those workers. Mp3 licensed companies

I was looking at this list and noticed a few things: http://www.mp3licensing.com/licensees/index.asp 1. Vlc is not there. I thought it has mp3 codecs inbuilt (correct me if am wrong) 2. Mandriva not on the list despite their out-of-box support for mp3 in powerpack versions 3. Novell should be there at least to offer mp3 support in their commercial SLED product 4. Shouldn't these guys from Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) be on the list? So they can distribute music on behalf of our musicians 5. Last thing I noticed (and not least), I am idle.

Get laptops with battery of atleast 3 hours, or even buy additional battery therefore u get atleast 6 hours battery and they can charge overnight. Idea for Telcos: Open Platform.

Hi yall, Can one of our ever competing Telcos develop a platform and expose APIs that allow developers to plug in applications to their back-end infrastructure that they hold dear? There are many developers who want to build awesome mobile applications but they would like access to the Telcos infrastructure for the application to make business/market sense. With all these applications, come the subscribers. If there is a Telco out there willing to do the next big thing after M-PESA, then I believe this is it. Have a department of skilled developers familiar with Telco stuff and the department will be the link to the outside developers, providing knowledge, support etc that a normal developer would need to plug in. Hopefully if at all the developer is charged anything then it will be reasonable. O_o?

Of freelance teams and project afya et al.

Skunk(ettes), I am informed that only one team responded to the project Afya. This team, it seems, consists of some serious professionals and they will be meeting with the client in the next few days. I suppose that only one team responded suggests to me that most skunk(ette)s are uninterested/unable/un-confident to work in teams and bid for work. I had a few who said to me that they had never before bid or done a profile of themselves and therefore were not confident. I had a number of company executives from web companies - including one who is fairly active on this forum - suggest to me that giving a chance to freelance developers is a waste of time and the work should be given to them. One supposes that we shall watch Project Afya's performance with interest. In other news, I had another set of clients who have a project that we can call 'project watu' who have interest in trying out a freelance team. Should they hold out any hope that this model could work in skunkworks? Kags
