Network Fails on windows XP

Hi Guys, I have this pc running on Win XP SP 2; The user uses outlook express and skype for most of the tasks. Network drives are accesible just fine. but skype will often fail to sigh in and if it does it wont be able to send messages, Outlook Express does the same. these two apps eventually work when you diable nd enable the network adapter/ connection or unplug and plug back the network cable... or restart the machine. The network is content filtered by DansGuardian running on a linux server, i checked with the ISP guys and the IP address on this machine is limited but allowed outlook and skype acess, there are several other machines on the network with the same limits but are working fine. Any ideas?? Maina Muraguri.

e-Gorvenment: What have been the achievements and challenges?

Skunkers, The achievement of e-Government in Kenya has been one of the main priorities of the Government of Kenya towards the realization of national development goals and objectives for Wealth and Employment Creation, as stipulated in the Kenya Vision 2030. The Government of Kenya established the e-Government Programme in June 2004. Subsequently, the Directorate of e-Government (DeG) was established in June 2004 as a Government commitment to make e-Government a reality and to ensure that it provides better services to Kenyans. We have all seen effort across different Govt arms towards adoption of some form of e-government and if my memory doesn't fail me, i know there have been lost of exchanges in this forum directly and indirectly in this respect. (e.g. KRA onlines services...and whether they work, the e-gov portal launched by KICTB etc) I read Mworia's article on making of a revolution (posted Frid last week... I think 5/0/08) and what captured my attention are the misconceptions that many of us could be harboring. Now...(To the Point) to those knowledgeable than some of us are, could some one highlight to me what the broad achievements and REAL impediments have been within the last 5 years regarding the provision of following e-government services: 1. Government-to-Citizen (G2C) 2. Government-to-Business (G2B), 3. government-to-Employee (G2E), and 4. Government-to-Government (G2G) Much said. Many thanks. MKC

I want to make what i feel Hq a clarification about fedora. I am of the opinion that it is not a distro geared towards any one enviomnent but more towards a mindset: people who like the bleeding edge of software. In fact the fedora install process has one of the most comprehensive package selection processes of any of the main distro. This gives the user the benefit of being able to tailor their experience by selecting packages even at the individual level not just the purpose level (Desktop server etc). So if you are looking for a easy graphical install that doesnt include any mplayer plugins try doing a custom package install off a fedora install dvd. I have Fedora 11 if anyone wants to chat and arrange a swap. Amarok-Now-Playing for Kopete

I got fed up with the downloadable plugins that post on Kopete what Amarok is currently playing. So I wrote my own that uses dbus (The upgrade of DCOP) to do the postings. Uses Amarok 1.4 and Kopete 0.70.2. The Script can also work with Pidgin (look at the commented out sections for more detail). I am/was working on that until my pidgin started misbehaving. Pidgin gets called via the purple-remote interface.
