While commending Kelvin for his efforts, I have to say that, in truth, the audio was not satisfactory. As can be heard on the archive at http://www.livestream.com/internetsocietychapters/folder?dirId=7f278a60-df9d... We have now done three webcast events with ISOC KE, so it's time to raise our game.. What is needed is for the Chapter to invest in a microphone and cable that can reach from the speaker area to wherever the laptop is situated. A cheap video camera shotgun mic works very well. Also needed will be a tripod to mount it on. The setup can be tested using skype. While one can survive with a webcam + laptop, especially if presentation slides are made available at the same time, it is really audio that counts with webcasts. People tend to listen while multitasking, stopping to occasionally view the video. So audio is in many ways more important than video. I hope this can be arranged as there is a good deal of global interest in Kenyan Internet affairs, as the country is very much taking the lead in Africa and plenty of people want to follow along. A good archive webcast archive of an event will often gain many many more views than the live webcast, as long as it is of sufficient quality. The webcast software we use makes a back up on the local machine, so that, even if there are connection problems, video can be uploaded to YouTube or similar for later viewing. I look forward to improved webcasts in 2013 ! Wishing you all the best for the Holiday season. joly Producer, Internet Society Chapters Webcasting Channel On Wed, Dec 19, 2012 at 11:46 PM, Richard Otieno <richard.otieno@gmail.com> wrote:
