Re: [ISOC_KE] Internet Hall of Fame Kenya, who can we nominate? http://www.internethalloffame.org/nominations

Listers, I was thinking of nominating Dr. Bitange Ndemo MOIC for his Contribution in the Sector who else can we nominate?, Michuki Mwangi ISOC, Brian Longwe? Fiona Asonga?, just click reply with your prefered candidate or proposal -- Barrack O. Otieno +254721325277 +254-20-2498789 Skype: barrack.otieno http://www.otienobarrack.me.ke/

How about Njeri Rionge given that she was instrumental if not pivotal in making the Internet a commodity in KE? Also, if you cast your net a little wider Yazim Nanji was very pivotal in bringing the Internet to Kenya and managed to run a thriving ISP in an environment that was not friendly at all, both in the business and technical sense. i propose michuki mwangi for his contribution in building the local internet space, and his ability to share information and train alot of people. He has mentored so many people including myself. frank

I have been thinking about nominating George Sadowsky, mainly for his foundational work on bringing Internet to the developing world including Africa. Back in 2001 I recorded him doing some reminiscing http://punkcast.com/33 j On Mon, Feb 11, 2013 at 5:01 PM, Frank Ombech <fombech@gmail.com> wrote:

Yazim Nanji wasn't quite the man! Shem Ochuodho should be the one, unless I just missed the details. PS: Barrack, can we have some time to first read what the criteria is to be used before we give names? On 11 February 2013 19:36, rsohan@gmail.com <rsohan@gmail.com> wrote:

Hi Barack, Thanks for this info, however out of curiosity and to ensure that listers get to nominate members based on Merit , is it possible that we have small captions of each individual and what he or she has done, maybe for the last 10 or so yrs ? This way I believe we will all nominate an individual who deserves. Sent from my iPad On Feb 11, 2013, at 7:24 PM, Barrack Otieno <otieno.barrack@gmail.com> wrote:

Kelvin, i think the proposals should come in, we have lots of links and resources online on what most of the candidates have done, we can look at that as we go along the deadline is 18 February, most of them have been recognized time and again but its just good to know the feeling of the community.
