Dear all in the research team, Kindly take the shortest time possible to mull over the following topics and vote for the most viable (expressing the reason for choice). -Open data in local and national budgeting processes -Open data for legislation processes and elections -Open data in judicial systems -Open data for smarter cities -Open data for the delivery of privately provided public services -Open data for the regulation of markets (e.g. extractive industries) -Open data for the welfare and empowerment of marginalized groups and communities (e.g. data for small farmers) -Open data and international development The reason for this exercise is for the purpose of avoiding unforeseen research problems ; therefore we need to delve into an area that is manageable. Kindly lets have the responses by the end of the day as i need to allocate tasks. Speed is of essence Best regards, Ronald Ojino -- Faith is a living and unshakable confidence. A belief in God so assured that a man would die a thousand deaths for its sake.

Greetings Ronald, Hope you and team are well. For ISOC KE, a broad approach would be to take on: -Open data for smarter cities This provides the opportunity to also explore other topics as sub-areas such as: -Open data for the delivery of privately provided public services -Open data for the regulation of markets (e.g. extractive industries) -Open data for the welfare and empowerment of marginalized groups and communities (e.g. data for small farmers) Have a pleasant day. All, "Marginalized" is some word that draws interpretation based on how situation cultures it. Since we presume apolitical consideration,it likely natural to accent that "marginalized communities" here points towards those who are marginalized at least in regards to information or rather Internet resources. So who are they? You definitely have your answers but for me, am in favor of those who; a) have weak access priorities and abilities based on circumstantial reasons b) have strong exploitation interest in Internet resources but circumstances denies them Regards @richard On Wed, Aug 29, 2012 at 1:10 AM, Ronald Ojino <ronojinx@gmail.com> wrote:

@ Ronald, I think it is marginalised communities in ICT in general that is my understanding. So we are to address first how deep marginalisation is and how ICT can bridge that gap .
