---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Victor Ndonnang <ndonnang@nvconsulting.biz> Date: Tue, Feb 5, 2013 at 12:54 PM Subject: [Chapter-delegates] Safer Internet Day 2013: Message from Neelie Kroes To: Chapter Delegates <chapter-delegates@elists.isoc.org> Dear Colleagues, Today 5th February 2013, The Internet Community is celebrating the "Safer Internet Day" initiated by the European Union Programme called "Safer Internet". The theme for 2013 is "Online Rights and Responsibilities"; It encourages Internet users to"connect with respect". I found this post and message of Neelie Kroes, Vice President of the EU Commission about SID2013 very interesting and wanted to share it with you. You can read more: http://blogs.ec.europa.eu/neelie-kroes/safer-internet-kids-201/ "The Internet — open, free, innovative — offers so many benefits for children and adults. But you’re not truly free online unless you’re safe. And with simple tools we can ensure *the best benefits for everyone."* I'm deeply following this because my project as an ISOC Next Generation Leaders Laureate 2012 aims to promote safe and responsible use of the Internet by Children and young people in Cameroon. I will be implementing it during the next 8 months. Thanks to the Internet Society of the Support.
