Do we want to become an ALS inside ICANN's ALAC? Is this part of what ISOC-KE wants to do? I would be happy if this were the case! rgds, McTim

I think it is a great idea McTim, i am for it. On Fri, Mar 30, 2012 at 10:20 AM, McTim <dogwallah@gmail.com> wrote:

Then perhaps we should add it to the chapter application? C. Purpose and scope of Chapter Act as a focal point for all institutions and individuals involved in management and growth of the Internet in Kenya. The Internet society Kenya Chapter will support all its members that is Instituional members and individual members achieve their respective goals through Capacity Building and providing fora for knowledge exchange. Add: "Represent Kenyan Internet users in ICANN as an At-Large Structure within the ICANN At-Large stakeholder group." Obviously we can only add this if we reach consensus on it! -- Cheers, McTim "A name indicates what we seek. An address indicates where it is. A route indicates how we get there." Jon Postel

We can add as many objects so long as they don't go against ISOC tenets. I think the larger the scope of the chapter, the better for us -- ______________________ Mwendwa Kivuva For Business Development Transworld Computer Channels Cel: 0722402248 twitter.com/lordmwesh www.transworldAfrica.com | Fluent in computing kenya.or.ke | The Kenya we know

Dear McTim, As a soon to be registered society, I think we should become an At Large Structure within ICANN's ALAC and actively participate in ICANN.

Barrack et al, Please explain in layman's terms the connection between ISOC and ICANN for the sake of those not really in the loop :) so that it can be clear what this means for Bahrain Chapter. Thanks 2012/3/30 Paul M <paulitrix@gmail.com>

I will try. Officially ISOC has no role in ICANN, not does ICANN have a role in ISOC. They do cooperate on a variety of issues. Many ISOC Chpaters are part of ALAC, which is a part of ICANN that represents users. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/At-Large_Advisory_Committee -- Cheers, McTim "A name indicates what we seek.
