Happy Saturday!
I hope you are all well.
After great activity during the
World IPV6 Day launch and the presentations to the new generations to
Alliance High School Girls and Boys and The Chair Barrack and Charles
presentations at the National Youth Peace Forum, we now shift our focus
into the longer term period.
We Are Preparing The ISOC-K Strategic Plan.
Key outcomes:
1. Set out clear priorities and priority areas aligned to ISOC vision and local environment
2. Develop the workplan - year 1
3. Determine the structure of operation and related systems to support the workplan and goals
Event: ISOC-K Strategic Planning Day Workshop
Date: Wednesday, June 04th 2012
Time: 0730am - 0630pm
Venue: Nairobi, TBC (To Be Confirmed)
Frequently Asked Questions:
1. Who should attend the Strategy Session
ISOC-K members are invited to
participate during the day. Once the venue is confirmed, this will
guide on the number of persons that may be present. Members will be
invited to express interest to participate.
Members with specific assignments/roles within ISOC-K are requested to schedule this event in their diary today.
2. What is the cost of participation
Participating members will be
adviced on any cost associated. Where applicable, this will cover the
cost of the meals and refreshments for the day. Non-participating
members may choose to make a contribution once the cost is announced.
One (1) day is provided for the workshop versus the more often than not
2-3days retreat taking into consideration that members may be required to bear
some costs. Thus though a 1day session may "stretch" the minds of
participating members, it reduces the cost impact per member.
3. Will there be a facilitator for the day
At the pre-planning stage, we
envisage to use most of the internal resources and capacity from the
members. A facilitator where engaged would come in to harmonise, and
provide a second eye. ISOC-K members would be expected to be actively
involved and engaged.
4. I will not be available on the day itself, how can I provide my contribution towards the ISOC-K Strategy
Various members have already taken
responsibility for key areas relating to similar chapters and to the
ISOC structure. Over the next couple of weeks, discussions will be
raised online and we encourage you to make active contributions and to
generate debate.
(Look out for minutes of the ISOC-K meeting of 16/06/2012)
5. Why do we require to have a Strategic Planning day Workshop yet ISOC-K is already recognised as an ISOC chapter
ISOC-K as a young chapter endeavors to run its activities professionally and sustainably.
This requires that clear goals are set out and most of all agreed upon
by the members for the best interest of its beneficiaries, partners and
members in fulfilment of ISOC vision " Internet is for all". This
requires deliberate planning especially on how to navigate the 'unique
and peculiar" internet landscape in Kenya against the local influencing
economic, social, political, religious factors and the resultant value
to our society.
We look forward to sharing engaging discussions building up towards the Strategy Workshop.
