Uongozi unatulazimu sisi tusikilize kila mmoja.

ISOC got the money but some individuals were paid to do the translation. Who are these?

From the minutes, and the Chairmans report, it seems that the project was not handled by ISOC but by Charles. So questions go to Charles.
@ Grace : And by the way, where are ISOC financial statements. I know ISOC did IGF and some meetings, I am looking forward to see how much was spent. Did you send us the ISOC financials? I don't think so, why?

@ kiarie,

I was involved in wiki 1 and one of the issues that came up while translating is unesco wanted isoc to involve countries like tanzania.
Thus the swahili you think is grammatically incorrect un tanzania it is swahili sanifu.

Like most have asked what are your ideas of improving this project. You fail to address this.

This money to my knowledge was deposited to isoc bank account who was the beneficiary ? Isoc ke was.

First of all thank you for also joining in the discussion and saving me from the fuming chair.
I respect your views Daniel but do not think that being politically correct will take ISOC to the next level.
Questions must be answered, ili tuwe na real transparency.
@ Jane, I honestly think that a kawa Swahili speaker would not be helped so much by the website.

Why did I not comment before? Because this project report has never been posted .
I have looked through the archives. There was only a call for people to join but never an update.
I know you will say that people don't respond to ISOC mails. Me I say that even reading them is a kind of response.
I never attend ISOC meetings but the minutes are still posted and I read them.
Bottom line, I want to know who "benefited". Kwani whats so hard in giving names?

I thought this is a new ISOC that wants to do things differently. I will smell a rat until you show me there is no rat.

In the new year let us all be active and participate in activities in good time to ensure success of programs that would be implemented. UNESCO Programs have timelines and the sooner we finish on this the better for the chapter. Hi all

Unfortunately I won't be able to attend the AGM as I already had another engagement scheduled out of town.

I think I speak for the rest of the elected officials when I say that there shall be transparency and accountability on usage of funds and that we shall ensure we get the best value for money for any activities we engage in.

@rapundo,

I dnt think i asked any questions i gave a proposition.(read email thread)

the reason i assumed that Mr Ali is best to answer at the right time is

1. he is mandated by virtual of an election
2. this will be an independent audit by his office noting that he has not participated in any financials before his election.

all in all It is an AGM agenda.

Kelvin,

I have read through the report. it is substantial but needs review any other report done.

As a member, I ask what is the issue you are putting out? i feel this is not the right forum for such engagement regarding accountability. The issue of the report will be part of the AGM? Why not ask the questions at the forum?

I feel that ISOC kenya is entering into next phase that would transform our actions. I salute the team for guiding us into this juncture

Thanks

Why dont we give time to the budgets and finace controller to receive all documentations and financial records from the previous interim members ? Am sure once this is done Mr Ali will be able to explain what he inherited, current financial situation as well as address any questions. That would be my proposition unless Mr Ali would like to take any other measures then its welcome that we hear whats in his plate.

Charles,
You are right, I followed the money. Numbers don't lie. But the wiki is not professional, far from it.
I am sorry you sacrificed time for that, but at least you were well rewarded.
You see, this is the first time a report (read financial report) is being published about an ISOC project.
Had this been published before elections.....

And now that you have invited me to look more closely at the report, expect even more questions.
But please answer my question, who benefited financially from this "project". names names names!
-----------
@ Kiarie Good Question, but it only shows that you either did not read or understand the full report and only went for the figures. to say the least, by professional standards, those figures are even low. At the onset, we also thought it was alot of money, but when it came to the real work, looking for professional translators to deliver quality output in concise translation, editing etc, as required by the UNESCO, we had to sacrifice most of time in order to deliver. This aspect is well captured in the wiki report. In this regard we encourage members to get involved and participate in such activities in future order to understand what goes on. The wiki is and related iformation available @ http://dcom.co.ke/index.php?title=Main_Page Regards Charles Bad bad translation by all means. You are right, these were not professionals.
