Given the wide scope of the Convention, your participation is critical to inform the appropriate nationalization of this legislation. The African Union adopted the Cyber Security and Personal Data Protection Convention (AUCyC) <http://cipit.org/index.php/downloadablessss/finish/5-cipit-presentations/266-african-union-convention-on-cybersecurity/0> in June 2014 seeking to harmonize the various laws in respective African Countries for enhanced cooperation in cyberspace. As Kenya embarks on the ratification process and given the wide scope of the Convention, it is critical that as many actors as possible be involved to bring in diverse perspectives on the Convention. This session will present the legislative procedures to date and the anticipated ratification in Kenya. This will be followed by a discussion on the probable impacts of the continental document on the local scene and proposals by participants on the ratification process going forward.
