Dear Grace. I think what you also need to send to members is the organization constitution. Some of the issues raised by some members are to be in this document Jane On Monday, March 10, 2014 6:58 AM, Charles Oloo <oloo6382@gmail.com> wrote: Dear Grace Thanks. Bravo. Thank you for your kind remarks.
The Elections Committee comprises of the following:
Grace Mutung'u - Chair Davis Onsakia- Secretary Peterson Owino -Member Daniel Kihia -Member Marylin Vernon -Member Dan Munge -Member Victor Ndonnang- International Observer Gabriel Ramokotjo- International Observer
The roles of the Executive Committee are spelt out in the by-laws. They shall also be highlighted in the call for nominations.
We limited ourselves to the mandate we were given on our appointment and so we may not be able to address all issues that you raise at this point. However, we shall note and make recommendations in our report so that the incoming ISOC Executive may lead the chapter in addressing these issues.
The issue of membership is a thorny one. However, looking at the idea of a local ISOC chapter, the Societies' Act and the principles of public participation under the Constitution of Kenya, we thought it best to restrict voting rights to those who ordinarily reside in Kenya as they are the ones affected by decisions made here. I will raise it with the elections Committee nonetheless.

RE: DRAFT ELECTIONS REGULATIONS
Dear Grace and Team
Congratulations for a job well done in coming up with the Draft Election Regulations, such a comprehensive guide. However, in addition, I would suggest a Policy and Communication committee, that will, handle in liaison with the executive, handle official communication and stands of on issues on behalf of the chapter. Another important office that is missing is that of Trustees. Can the commitee advice on this.
I also thought it would be better if the team to briefly expalin the mandates of the various committees. For instance, it is noted that the task of the Membership Committee also include conducting elections and such matters. I also wish to think that the same committee will handle Chapter administrative, legal issues as well as resolution of any conflict within or without, to seal any loophole so that all matters relating abuse or misuse can be adequately be addressed.
None the less, I had earlier proposed for the consideration of a code-of conduct (ETHICS) document to serve as a guide to chapter officers during conduct of duties or any official business. Currently, the by-laws is silent on this important etiquette.
Lastly, could you possibly publish the names of the Committee who are doing this good work.
Thanks
Charles

Members, As you may be aware, a committee comprising of six ISOC members was appointed to assist with the election process for the chapter. The committee incorporated two observers from other ISOC chapters.
The committee has had several meetings and deliberated on our mandate. Please find attached a document containing the Draft Election Regulations. We request members to look at them , think about them and offer us constructive critique. Members of the committee are here and available to clarify any questions you may have.
We look forward to hearing from you over this weekend and to working with you to have take the chapter to its next phase.
