A further interesting study is the by-laws of the recently rejuvenated DC chapter. They kind of started from scratch. Differences from most Chapters are the the replacing of the President office with two co-convenors, and term limits.  Many of the further provisions are called for by local regulations.

One thing we've experienced at ISOC-NY is difficulty in differentiating the roles of the board and the Executive Committee.

I believe we adapted it from the ISOC guidelines when ISOC-NY formed in 1997.  The early function of the chapter was very much to establish a professional network. The second stage was to provide technical forums, and third to become socially active within the local community.
