During a break, I chatted with a woman from SUNY Stony Brook. She raved about her experience at a 2012 forum hosted by the ISOC New York chapter. She met lots of other researchers, gained a sense of what each was doing, and, importantly, where gaps existed. She also met a new colleague, and together they successfully applied for an NSF grant to do further Internet security and privacy research. It sounds to me like this is just the intended outcome, and a clearly positive impact. Congratulations, ISOC New York chapter!
