The Internet Society will be accepting applications for the November 2012 round of the Community Grants Programme from 09 August to 10 September 2012, (note that applications will close at the end of the day, midnight PDT (-7 UTC) on 10 September). Award decisions will be made in early November.
To prepare for this application round, we will be holding two information sessions via WebEx on Thursday, 2 August at 1030 and 2000 UTC. More information on the Q&A sessions can be found at http://www.internetsociety.org/events/chapter-events?p=1460

**New to the programme**
Letters of Support are Mandatory:
Beginning this round, the Community Grant Programme will require at least one letter of support to be uploaded to your application. The support letter(s) should acknowledge the support from the various stakeholders engaged in the project, whether “in kind” or cash donations. Any support for your project that is more than US$500 should be validated with a support letter and establishes your project partners’ willingness to support your initiative and their engagement toward fulfilling your project’s goals.
**Good to know **
The Internet Society will continue using the Zoomgrants web-based application to receive your Community Grants Programme proposals. We highly recommend you consult the online tutorial before applying.
The current, preferred Focus Areas for project applications remain: • IPv6 • Local content creation (encouraging demand for and use of the Internet for a specific community) • Encouraging the multi-stakeholder approach to technical and policy issues • Interconnection and traffic exchange
It is important to note, that the above Focus Areas may provide direction in formulating project ideas. These are preferences only, so other project topics can be accepted as well.
