Thank you for sharing the ITU Conference link. For Kenya, I am not certain that there is commitment to connect to the rest of the world when already it is expensive and not inclusive to keep connected to each other across our local networks by telephony. In our markets, we cannot shy away from the fact that cost is a major factor and more often than not the number 1 in the buying process. I hedge on this aspect with a clear understanding on the power of information communications media - from Telecoms, Internet etc. This prohibitive cost to the masses continues to grow the famous gap between the rich and the poor through creating a "bulging" digital divide in this knowledge driven economy. While many breads are buttered by these growing sectors and core players continue to strengthen their muscle - most of these beneficiaries may be viewed as one sided, with their business and other personal interests at heart. It is vital to point out that this high level deliberations are jargon to myriads of Kenyans. But most of all access and use of the internet is prohibitive - to even consider making their contribution to the discussions. Highly unfortunate as I believe this is not what institutions such as ISOC Global means by "Internet is for All" Liz: On ISOC KE monthly meeting due tomorrow - I take there is no meeting unless I have missed your email on the venue. Have a pleasant weekend.
