Reluctantly I must support Grace on this. Even now, as the event begins, there is no mention of it on http://isoc.or.ke/ - and no publicly available agenda. Also :) at this time, no feed to the webcast channel. j On Tue, Dec 18, 2012 at 11:07 AM, Grace Mutung'u (Bomu) <nmutungu@gmail.com> wrote:
Liz, This is not about me, it is not about lack of clarity. It is about openess and accountability. There was no invite. period. Please note that the best practice is always to invite public (or in our case members' participation) in events such as these. I am a member of ISOC, but I learnt about the event from a colleague. You only sent the invite after I asked about it. As a member of ISOC-Ke I am entitled to information to participate in such events. To the extent of my views being sought on the programme etc. or at the very least to timely information about such an event. Please send timely invites in future. (in addition to the minutes) In the same vein, please send us a report of the launch. Best.

Hi Grace Thanks for pointing out that the invite of the event was not very clear for you, and recommendations for future events.

@ Richard, thank you for your kind compliments. I did read the minutes, and here is an excerpt: ------------------------- Min 02/01/12/2012 Launch It was noted that the chapter’s launch was tied to resources, time and the message it wants to convey. The meeting agreed to organize for a breakfast event on 19th December followed by a press briefing that aligns the chapter’s roadmap to 2013. Charles and Barrack are to follow up on funding from ISOC and report back by 5th December. ------------------------- this does not amount to an invite, as one cannot tell if the event is confirmed, the venue, time, speakers, programme etc. To the organising committee, in future, please do invite members formally for the chapter events on the list ( and please send invites at least a few days to the event).
Wishing you all the best. Kind regards, _______________________________________________ isoc mailing list isoc@lists.my.co.ke http://lists.my.co.ke/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/isoc
