Hi all,
It's a pleasure to join this list. I was so excited to hear from ISOC about the fact that we are well on the way to (finally) having a local chapter. I have waited many years for this! As I read through the archives I saw the thread about Kenyan Internet history and would like to contribute the following.
[....] Hi Brian, been wondering where you've been. You forgot to mention, you taught quite a few of us the ropes, especially when we had to do everything the hard way, having been thrown in the deep end :) remember that old Compaq desktop we ran our first linux box on...wasn't it the first local DNS server..the Cisco 2501 which was our lifeline..the Hayes 14.4 modems and Portmasters...Equinox SST boards...and the Worldgroup BBS? You were a great teacher ... Why do I feel like such a fossil all of a sudden? There's been quite a bit going on, thanks to the volunteer spirit on the local scene, but some of us (at least I speak for myself) have been a bit inert due to being out of +254 almost all the time. Regards, Steve
