Hi All, I have been a member of the isoc chapters for a while now (chapter not including Kenya). and am very impressed that finaly we have began our very own that we will follow with keen interest as well as moving forward in one way or another. i just cant wait for our very first meeting and i do hope that we will have a brain storming session to chat the way forward. it must also b noted that proper structures of governance, a policy as well as a strategy to chater our way forward will indeed be necesary at some point , otherwise we will head in no given direction. regards, kelvin On Mon, Aug 1, 2011 at 3:31 PM, Barrack Otieno <otieno.barrack@gmail.com>wrote:
Dear Members,
Thank you for coming on board and joining this noble initiative, going forward we will have a structured discussion aimed at gathering the views of members on the structure and operations of the ISOC Kenya Chapter, this should make our deliberations easier during the Face to Face meeting scheduled for 19th August. The following are some of the issues we will need to think about, we will discuss two questions per day over a period of five days feel free to contribute on each question on the best way forwad :
Day 1
- What should our Vision be as ISOC Kenya Chapter ?
- What do we value most of the Internet Society's work and what would we like to achieve with a Chapter in Kenya?
Day 2
- What would you find most important for a good Chapter network?
- What would you see as the desired strategy and objectives for a successful Chapter in Kenya? What would be the priorities and how would you define actions?
Day 3
- How would you find and build strategic alliances and partnerships with organisations and individuals to sustain the Chapter?
- What are the main issues related to the Internet and its development in Kenya?
Day 4
- What are the interests of the local Internet community in Kenya?
- Are there different Internet (user) (interest) groups or communities in Kenya? How would you describe them? Where would you see a possible collaboration between them and where would you see potential conflicts?
Day 5
- How would you define a successful and legitimate Chapter?
- What would be the scope of the future Chapter?
We will commence the discussion tomorrow as we wait for more members to join the group.
Kind Regards
